Best creamy white/light cream paint to match primrose hue colourbond?
Comments (30)We're going through this at the moment. We have way too many primrose windows and doors to ever consider changing them, so we're embracing them. They suit the house, which is a tan coloured brick with a red tile roof and apricot tiles like yours. We like native Australian colours and are considering some of those (muted greens, beiges, and blues) for our living and bedrooms, but we are struggling with the main wall colours, which we want to be light. Our approach is a trim colour that provides a way to transition from the primrose aluminium to a warm (not yellow) white , and what we have so far is a Resene Double Pearl Lusta for trims with Resene Half Pearl Lusta for the walls. I actually have Half Pearl Lusta on the walls of my office at work and it's a great, warm (not yellow) white that I think will suit the primrose and the tiles. I've experimented with Dulux Berkshire White for trims but they're too bright and white and clash too much with the primrose. I think the big lesson with primrose is that you have to embrace it and not fight against it. It's never going to look any good with really stark whites and monochromatic furniture. Embrace the warmth! Once solution I've found is to also change door furniture (including hinges) to black, because it goes really well with the primrose. Black door furniture and fittings, primrose aluminium windows, and a warm (not yellow) white actually look really good together and provide a solid base for experimenting with other warm, muted colours for feature walls, rooms, and statement furniture....See MorePrimrose (yellowish) window frames
Comments (8)I don’t know whether you have done your painting or not but with your dark furniture and existing windows I would paint walls light warm grey and 150% strength same grey colour on the architrave .something different and grey , yellow and brown look good together....See MoreNeed professional helping - matching window frame
Comments (32)We have an even better match now. Took my sample of frame to another paint shop and they were brilliant! Kept working on the mix until it was right. And even better the lady was an interior decorator and advisor and gave me some great advice on colour choosing. Thinking of going quite a bit lighter for the walls and adding some pops of colour in verandah posts and/or fret work. Feeling so much better about the choices now. The samples on the cards are all the colours I originally had, we’ve just pulled in Haymes Overcast as the overall colour rather than Charcoal Grey. Will use the Charcoal in the features. Really excited to get weatherboards on and start painting!! It pays to shop around!!...See MoreStruggling with paint choice, primrose windows dilemma for a Motel
Comments (12)Thank you for all your help, I was thinking of painting the balcony supports to bring in the white again but my husband said he does not really want to paint them as we will have to paint down the track again and keep it up. They are double gav. Do you mean paint the grey around the balcony base to the white swan? So instead of having dark grey gutters and balcony dark grey have dark grey gutters and white swan around balcony? I could not find Tranquil Retreat on the paint visualiser so I used Gray Frost which looks on the internet a similar colour so I could get the idea what it may look like. Any thoughts on below colours? It is funny a lot of people say the Tranquil retreat does not look pale blue but on the Motel it does look pale blue as can be seen on the above real photos....See MoreAnn M
