I'd go for a giant mirror above the sofa, open that space right up and throw some light around the place. You don't have to go for an expensive option either, I found mine at a salvage yard for $30 and repainted the frame with a sample pot of paint! Jenn

I've just had a similar dilemma trying to decide on how to liven up the boring white bathroom we ended up with thanks to a well known tile supplier mucking up big time. I've hopefully given it some bling by using this ornate frame on some art work. If you don't want a plain edge mirror, you could do something like that?? My frame arrives tomorrow (yay). If you'd like a pic of what it looks like hung on a white wall, feel free to sing out. We ummed and arrred about incorporating a mirrored shaving cabinet into our reno. We did, and it's way more practical than before. Everything is within easy reach. All is hidden and off the benchtop, which makes it neater and so much easier to clean. Most bathroom essentials (like soap, spray cans, toothpaste, razors, lotions etc) fit easily on the 15cm shelves. In fact, the cupboard under the vanity is now virtually empty and there's no kneeling on the floor, digging in the back of it to find stuff! The loo paper fits in a vanity drawer, so it's also out of the way. Bonuses all round. I agree with suggestions to relocate the towel holder (if you can, of course).

Hi Luke! What a great opportunity for your friend to create something special. An idea could be to draw inspiration from our PR Manager's house (as seen in this [Houzz Tour[(https://www.houzz.com.au/magazine/my-houzz-a-creative-collectors-home-bursting-with-personality-stsetivw-vs~109117683)) and create a gallery wall! Freddy's is portrait themed (and has grown considerably in the last couple of months) but you can choose any theme you wish - or even no theme at all! We'd suggest starting off with an artwork they truly love, such as the one already hanging. Then, you can pick an element of the piece to build the rest of the collection around - such as a colour or subject. We have some handy tips for hanging the collection in our blog post here. Thank you everyone for your great comments. There were design ideas I had never thought of and really valued like the floating shelf, a mural and larger cushions and changing the colour of the lamp shade. Attached is the latest room version. I have moved paintings around. I do love this aboriginal painting, I am not sure if it is a little small but I'd really like it above the couch so perhaps another complimentary painting beside it? Or do you think it works ok? I think I can pretty much choose any colour from the painting for cushions and to brighten up the space - was thinking brighter and larger like suggested above by littlethommo2 and littlethommo2 . I still think I have balance/scale to work on - thank you Paul Di Stefano Design and littlethommo2 . I can move the cupboard at the end of the couch with the plant on it and place something taller here ? Any further ideas are really appreciated. Thank you all !
