Help me find a rug for our new bedroom
Comments (91)A few from horchow. If these are not in your price range, we can look for something that looks similar in a lower price point. http://www.horchow.com/Rowley-Chair-Chairs-Ottomans/cprod72870045_cat5720731_cat16060742_/p.prod?isEditorial=false&index=58&seoDesigner=&cmCat=cat000000cat000001cat16060742cat5720731 http://www.horchow.com/Massoud-Leanna-Wing-Chair-Chairs-Ottomans/cprod100830032_cat5720731_cat16060742_/p.prod?isEditorial=false&index=21&cmCat=cat000000cat000001cat16060742cat5720731 http://www.horchow.com/Massoud-Cartata-Wing-Chair/cprod91930035_cat5720731__/p.prod?eVar4=rvi&index=40&cmCat=rvi...See MorePoll: Should you have a TV in your bedroom?
Comments (11)Hi Georgina, We have a tv in the bedroom of the little home we're living in whilst building and we have made allowance for it again in the new home and in the bathroom!!! It definitely saves on heating and lighting in winter as you simply go to bed early and the only light on is the tv glowing. We're installing a spa bath, really just a huge bathtub with jets in our bathroom and I"m going to watch Better Homes & Gardens in my bath if it kills me ha-ha Hubby hates the show and I can never watch it when he's in early, so some candles a cruiser and I'm laughing, literally ha-ha Love it and I say yes go for it!!!...See MoreYour favourite linen colours for your bedroom?
Comments (15)Unfortunately susan_ 66 there is colour is psychologically and historically related either way, and dark blues re more often not considered masculine when building an interior. I worked in a design centre where much time was spent picking apart colour association, and used it to help market the products in imagery. There are feminine blues ofcourse, but my comment specifically mentioned indigo and low chroma colours, which are toned. With black and greys, and I used the phrase 'added masculinity' referring to the boldness and strength of colour they bring to soft and delicate colours of blush and peach. Just from that you can see how colour is associated, bold and strength= male, and soft and delicate = female. it is what it is. In my example, ie an interior, I meant it to be masculine. Baby blue I wouldn't have thought was masculine, but is a gender specific typically only when there are two options. Pink or blue!...See MoreCan someone help me decide how to paint this massive bedroom?
Comments (9)Great space, Marcie. Certainly, dark colours will help to create a more intimate space. Cool colours work beautifully with white plantation shutters creating a restful space. Looking at the room now, I suggest you need to incorporate some texture. Seagrass wallpaper is a great start. A textured rug between the bed and the large picture window will help make the space more intimate. Add a couple of tub chairs by the window at the edge of the rug, and add cushions and throws that co-ordinate with your final colour choices. You may even wish to add a couple of big leafed indoor plants. Decide on your theme - coastal, tropical, shabby chic, southern belle, contemporary - these all work with plantation shutters - and then add colours, textures, and lighting to suit. Cheers, Penelope...See MoreEmma
