Barn Doors, Yay or Neigh?
Comments (21)Moteef I love what you have done with your TV room - we are considering sliding doors in this style also. Can I ask the width - dimensions of the doorway opening - I am really unsure how wide to make the space and yours looks perfect thanks !...See MoreArtwork/wall decor for my guest bedroom
Comments (38)Hi, Love the artwork. Because they're so small, how about putting them vertically, side by side on the wall where the bookcase is. I'd either take out the bookcase, or paint it white. If space is an issue in the room, you could maybe replace the bookcase with a small ottoman/ pouf in a textured plain fabric. This gives guests a place to lay their clothes at night or to set an overnight bag. You could consider a LARGE, maybe hectagonal grey framed mirror over the bed to echo the lines in the bedding. The bedding has a lot of pattern and a mirror may be all you need. Most of all, don't rush. Take your time and enjoy the process....See MoreDust - do interior decorators not encounter this phenomenon?
Comments (38)Forget dust, what about all the other things that designers or buyers forget: fingerprints on shiny new surfaces... result: things stop looking new. Grime build-up in the nooks and crannies of classic profiles ... result: not so classy looking. Those funky new colours that are so "on trend" but nothing else matches and in a few years they look completely off-color. As for dusting, well people, it is a fact of life and every house no matter how sleek, cluttered or empty will gather dust. Couple of things you can do about it: Hydronic heating has really cut down dust for me because you don't have warm air being blown through the house through ducts. (It's also way cosier). Secondly, remember that every time you have your windows open, more dust comes in. So when ventilating after a hot spell, avoid having them open for long periods when its very windy. Thirdly, has anyone tried Grabit dusters? They *really* make dusting a quick, simple and efficient job. They pick up and hold rather than redistribute the dust. Also they are so light that you can confidently flick them around even fragile items without knocking them over - so this all saves time....See MoreNeed new lounge and decor ideas!
Comments (12)OK, I have lots of ideas with that brief; Starting with the floor, I think a big cosy knitted/plaited style rug like this one would set the tone. From there I think a round coffee table (maybe in a dark timber not unlike your kitchen to keep the colour story working between the spaces) to help with the movement of people within the space and finally I would repeat a modular sofa to maintain the number of seats you require. I'd consider the sofa in a donkey brown (grey/brown). I would replace the side table with a round side table that is in a new material (metal or ceramic) but same sort of colours to layer up the textures. Cushions on the sofa should then be various textures but continuing the same colours. The entertainment unit I would then select something that is textural like this. I would have a big piece of timber artwork or installation over the sofa something like these . Have fun with the space. Sophie...See MoreWoodfloors4u
