Would love some help with my living room - small beach house
Comments (7)I recently decorated our beach condo on a budget. Items to consider are bowls or clear glass vases with found shells displayed. Sisal rug and woven baskets make a coastal feel. The baskets are great for storage as well. I used white light and linen drapes found at ikea.Because of small size of room, i have glass tables to help maximze space. I am adding shutters found at a flea market as headboard for guest bedroom this year. I found many useful items from community sales. I frequent local beach decor shops some pricey to get ideas for arranging and adding items. I would put couch so can look out window to garden. Put it floating in the center of the room, Tv on wall. Two chairs sort of where they are now in photo. Small table and chairs located near door and kitchen. Looks like not much space there but look at ikea furniture as it is for small spaces. One ikea table is shown to be against wall and then pulls out to enlarge, it might work for you....See MoreCould you live WITHOUT a front door?
Comments (15)We did have a front door leading onto a small hallway. It was not used often. During the kitchen reno the wall between was knocked down, giving us extra space in the kitchen, and replacing the door with a window. Now however everyone uses sliding doors off various living areas, but there is no sense of "arrival", and yes nowhere to drop the keys, bags etc. Also, people who are not regulars are a bit bamboozled as to where they should "knock on the door". I am now trying to change an outdoor area off the driveway with pavers and plants to create an obvious and welcoming entrance....See MoreSmall Living room decorating.
Comments (7)Go the diagonal! There seems to be a lot of dead space in the middle. It seems like a desk/office area near the glass doors. I would move the TV there at a diagonal over the fixed part of the glass door and circle that with the couches/seating. Couches don't need to be up against walls as they are usually heavy enough to stand alone. The feet of the couches should be on the rug and only just enough room around the coffee table to get to a seat at the couches and get to the TV. I would tuck the office (if that is what that table is being used for) closer to the kitchen facing the glass doors. The path to the opening part of the doors will then be behind the couches. Since you will be able to see the back of the couches you can buy sarongs/material to drap over the back like a shawl. Pick some that match the rugs with a very simple pattern....See MoreOur front living room needs help!
Comments (12)I have attached a new layout, taking into account the new, and important information. I would move your lounge to the wall where spinning wheel is. Move spinning wheel to corner window. Swap tall buffet with lower buffet. Put small chair in corner where television is. Take the two large lounge chairs out completely. They are too bulky for the space. Replace with two high back chairs in your wonderful teal colour. Add a round gold table for chairs. Then these could be used to watch television. But look wonderful when people are entering this space. The lower buffet will be behind these chairs, therefore the teal will stand out against the rich wood tones of buffet. You have unique pieces, people should be able to see them at their best....See Moreme me
