Hi Aleta1, youre getting down to the nitty gritty of Interior Design now. Choosing the perfect colour involves addressing many issues...size of your windows, orientation of the house, height of ceilings, size of rooms, purpose for room to name a few. If you have the time I recommend getting a sample pot of full and half strength and try it in a couple of corners of each room. That way you can see how the colour looks at different angles. I would let your natural elements shine ..match your wall colour to your classic white laminate and be lazy and paint the same for the ceilings so not to distract from your features or you could use your Caesar stone Urban as an inspiration and choose that colour as wall colour..ie go a bit lighter ..since you can play around with the colours as your room has lots of natural light .. Urban is a nice colour..brownish grey.. personally I'd just go white..

The budget that was put into our build (by the builder) makes hardwood floors an extra $23k. Although the 600 x 600 are expensive to lay it still comes in at less than half the price including bathrooms. We had hardwood in our last house, I liked it but it scratched and dented with chairs and kids dragging their sandy bikes inside. i am worried that I will choose the tile and hate the cleaning and potential slippery accidents in summer but I worry about the look of karndean....... is it very plasticky? I have some samples but it's very hard to tell from such a small piece. Is the tile we have chosen too 'busy' for all areas? Maybe I have really bad taste and it's an ugly tile lol Thanks so much for all your help guys :)

Thanks, great feedback and some new thoughts. We purchased this place as it we felt it was a good buy and could be a good place for my parents to downsize to however it may be that we end up selling it the near future so as mindful of making it as appealing as possible. Hence removing the island despite all the cabinetry being in good condition albeit in an unusual colour. We have previously put in an ikea kitchen and were really happy with the finish so will likely go with that again versus having custom made to keep the costs down. This is the living room into the kitchen... do you think it would make that area cluttered ok Louise if we had seating there as you had drawn? We are happy to remove doors make opening wider. I also understand that keeping the toilet smells seperate from the kitchen is important and I think turning the door would achieve that. Will remove pantry door siriuskey as I agree too many openings, I was going to use it for additional bathroom space but if I keep toilet seperate that will be a waste and opening shelving could look nice. Your laundry design oklouise is exactly as I planned so that’s reassuring.
