Love your house, I would keep the timber as it works beautifully with the floor change the bar stools, and look at changing the bench top to the same as your kitchen. Some suspended lights like the kitchen could look great cheers

prefer the light colour as i think the timber bar and black counters overpowers the beautiful floors in the family room but the white counter and black cabinets look perfect in the kitchen with the big windows

You have amazing taste. It looks like your choices so far have been well chosen. What are you leaning towards?

The dark kitchen cupboards would provide contrast and make a statement, the light laundry cabinets would tie in with the wall tones (and new furnishings), and the wood would complement the floors. All would look good if tweaked to update the space.

I like the idea of a lower bar that does not block off the space as much.

If you are looking for a complete change of use / if you don't use the bar, the area would lend itself to a nice work area / office space - replacing the high bar with a lower work surface. You may already have a dedicated office in the house.

May I please ask what species of wood is on your floors? They are beautiful.

would you have use for a bar, we removed ours and my computer now sits in that space on a long bench, I also have a mirror on the wall behind my laptop so I can see whats happening behind me. Yours would be a bit more complicated because off the ceiling, does the parquetry flooring run under the bar or just up to it?

The border would indicate that it isn't under the cabinets, do you have use for a bar, you mentioned having an office?, are you able to post a couple of different angles, say from the kitchen

Any photos of the lovely staircase. Looking at these photos with the timber blinds I would definately keep the timber but with the lighter benchtop, Kitchen? beautiful house.

Hey! Id smash the two together. I would use the white on the front of the bar to make it sympathetic to the white wall, but put black in the back shelving to create depth and sophistication.

What I would do is remove the top part of the tall front panel and bring it back down to bench top height with a new lighter bench top, it would make it a lot more user friendly for a bar or computer use, new stools and extra lights so you can swap between the downlights which appear to be a bit harsh for a "Bar".

wow what a stunning home you have, is that marble or sandstone flooring in the entrance and on the stairs. The front door is very impressive and so is the Juliet balcony done in black metal and timber, your new kitchen is perfect, have you decided what to do with the bar. Is that the living room we see from the entrance or is it the family

Tracey, I too ask if you and your family make use of the bar on a regular basis? I see it provides storage but wonder if you think the space would suit your need some better as something else?

Hi siriuskey, not real recently, but have been overwhelmed by garden produce...I've been making batches of tomato pasta sauce for freezer - to last us thru the winter, decluttering and unpacking boxes upon boxes of books we have had stored in garage since our move...it's only been two and a bit years, but who's counting!
