Would love some help with my living room - small beach house
Comments (7)I recently decorated our beach condo on a budget. Items to consider are bowls or clear glass vases with found shells displayed. Sisal rug and woven baskets make a coastal feel. The baskets are great for storage as well. I used white light and linen drapes found at ikea.Because of small size of room, i have glass tables to help maximze space. I am adding shutters found at a flea market as headboard for guest bedroom this year. I found many useful items from community sales. I frequent local beach decor shops some pricey to get ideas for arranging and adding items. I would put couch so can look out window to garden. Put it floating in the center of the room, Tv on wall. Two chairs sort of where they are now in photo. Small table and chairs located near door and kitchen. Looks like not much space there but look at ikea furniture as it is for small spaces. One ikea table is shown to be against wall and then pulls out to enlarge, it might work for you....See MoreRather a UNIQUE space... I need help with some ideas!
Comments (3)The wood is beautiful but it is pretty dominant in the scheme. The photo is very small so it's not possible to see your furnishings in any detail. However, I would recommend adding more colour and pattern--a large area rug, a coloured sofa with accent cushions, maybe a drapery valance... By adding important pieces with lots of character you'll have a balance between the wood features and the furnishings....See MoreIdeas to improve façade of block home near the beach
Comments (7)The back looks more inviting than the front at present , but anything can be worked with . Is it a permanent home , or a beach place , only used occassionally ? The design and needs will vary a lot . Also , you said there is a carport to the right , that you are adding a door to , but the image seems to show that on the left ? Likewise , is that an addition to the right , or is that the carport closed in ? Anyway , assuming the windows are staying , and assuming its a holiday home ( the only reasoning is that 2 x 9kg gas bottles wouldn't be what most people would fit to a permanent home . I wouldn't do a footpath along a wall , I'd be a metre out -- allows for a garden , but also in case you need to get to plumbing , power , etc . Roof in a light grey ( yes , I know , but it is tropical , so don't go dark anything ) with charcoal ( or orange if you dare ! ) gutters and white eves , and slightly off-white walls , with 2 timber doors . Boring eh ? But then I'd have black steel frames around the windows ( not the window frames ) with security bars across , BUT with stained 80mm x 80mm timber rails screwed over the crossbars , so that is all you can see . The combo of white and a reasonably deeper toned stained timber exterior will look classy , clean , modern and be secure . The additions much the same , some rock or bark gardens , tropical plants , ferns , palms , knock yourself out !...See MoreHi, I am chasing some ideas on external colours to paint my house.
Comments (4)I'd ask whether you want to keep it heritage , or go more modern ? Bigreader basically has the 50's vibe covered -- to go more modern I'd go an offwhite with a slight green or even blue tinge on the waeatherboards , then either bright red or a stronger green than the fence , for the trim . I'd get rid of every bit of the brown , and it looks like some grey on the back steps -- I know all about budgets too , so maybe do all the steps and railings in a metallic look charcoal , or if the budget stretches , maybe go more modern on all the steps and railings and all the doors -- there's a difference between painted old , and retro haha -- $2000 or even $4000 spent cleverly now will really add to the overall effect ....See MoreArah Merlyn Galindez
