Here's a sketch - pouring the money you would have have spent on the side extension into a new ensuite and family shower room where the kitchen used to be - with pocket doors for access - having walk in wardrobe behind bed . Island kitchen and moving the dining onto the deck - possibly room for stools at island ?!?! Laundry cupboard rather than complete utility room ... It's just an idea to chat with your architect about ! Hope it gives you food for thought ... Oh and added a bath upstairs with an ensuite - will need to check that this is possible as a full bath weighs loads !!!

We have four farmhouse style sinks in two different houses, and all present the same problem. It doesn't have anything to do with the material as two sinks are concrete, one stainless steel, and one composite stone. With the two kitchen sinks it's very frustrating spraying out the food particles from corner to corner. Food particles go from one side to the other, and it's very difficult to corral them to the drain. The two concrete bathroom sinks don't have enough slope, so when shaving and brushing teeth, the water and material flow to the opposite side of the sink. It's annoying to wash a 3' wide sink every time it's used. And gross if the sink isn't cleaned from side to side after every use. As a compromise, we're installing a farmhouse concrete bathroom sink with two drains and more slope. As I evaluate many things in life, a, farmhouse sink is a solutions looking for problem.

I have a shower over bath combo' which its plastic resin something? It's a old bungalow and pitifully small. The amount of times I have nearly slipped over getting out, or lost my balance with soap in my eyes/ or after having a glass of wine. hate hate it. I did see a shower room with a additional hand held device and a over head shower. I thought that good for the odd squirt your feet down. The next owners will probably rip it all out and start again any way when design ideas change.

Re formulas for what to paint each section, I remember that in Bunnings and especially serious paint shops there are brochures and sometimes computer aided planners for repainting Period Homes, and yes there are rules. Good luck, at the moment the building looks quite stiff with the stark colours of just blue and white, so a well selected colour palette of period pastels will make all the difference.
