Comments (21)The layout of the kitchen is functional as is. If you move the oven to the other side it'll be too far from the sink for hot liquids, plus it'll be in a walkway. In it's current location the oven would be next to the doorway (but not a thoroughfare) so be sure to leave 200mm beside the oven. A pull out spice/oil rack would be ideal. By leaving the oven in it's current location you'll save on electrical costs. The fridge would be ideally located where your proposed oven site is. A broom cupboard could be placed next to it to make up the space. To let light in I suggest cutting out a small section of the tin roofing in the pergola area and putting tinted polycarbonate roof sheeting in it's place. IKEA has great kitchens flat packs that are easy to put together....See MoreNeed help with kitchen design
Comments (74)We went for a 70 cm induction stove top which works well - bit more space than 60 but doesn't eat up as much bench space. Our space was limited too, and we wanted to maximise both bench tops and storage. I'd go for an under cupboard range hood and us the above space for some more storage - besides it streamlines the look. I personally like a sink and a small one - using the small one for vegetable washing and smaller washing up works well for us. Our space (and the necessity for two corner cupboards) meant that we had to have a small dishwasher - Bosch 45cm wide (several brands make them). It works really well if you have space issues....See MoreUpdating my timber kitchen
Comments (44)yvonne.. re sanding cupboards I had mine professionally sanded because they were looking worn. timber is American Oak and it really didn't lighten very much by sanding. so depending on your timber you might not achieve much. i would change a few upper cabinets with glass doors, white perspex or remove a few doors, paint the back of shelving and hang wine glasses or whetever and break the load that way. I replaced my range hood with a pull out chrome one and that in itself made a difference nt tying in with the chrome handles. see pictures. maybe you could paint the legs or reupholster the stools to white...all part of the kitchen....See Moretoo much black? Comments (22)I realise that it only matters if you like it , there are some features I like , but some that i wouldn't want -- just shows we are all different ! The black/charcoal is the right tone , but I am inclined to think there is still too much , although it is 'livable' . Just me , but I guess the biggest 'clash' is the lighter timber . The timber you used is nice in itself , but IMO it doesn't fit in with the floor , and the floor itself I dislike , because of the 2 different directions of the timber ( in fact , it even looks like the 2 floor timbers are different widths , but hard to tell ) but also it is obviously different tones . just my opinion , you either match or you go for contrast -- this does neither . It is similar timber , laid in opposite directions , with the join halfway across the kitchen just to really highlight all the differences . My 'standard' thing too is colour , and that may come via the accessories , and to say it looks bare is unfair -- I'd like to see it when it is accessorised ....See MoreJAYEN INNOVATIONS PTY LTD
