How to paint loungeroom in 1920's character home

House built approx 1921/1922 - federation style - often called a character home - has picture rails all around loungeroom. This house was my parents - they have now passed away and I am preparing house for sale. Loungeroom is presently painted blue ceiling, pink on the walls between the picture rail and where the wall meets the ceiling, and grey below the picture rail. Although I want to keep within the style of the era, I want to do a quick paint job of the loungeroom to make the house present better for sale, so want it looking fresh and clean, but still retain what belonged to the era in style. It has goldy coloured carpet on the floor, which I am not planning to change before sale. It is a larger room 12 x 14
Basically, the target is to freshen it up with new paint, but not take away from the character
Any suggestions would be appreciated
