I have a double right now (one large, one small) and I use the small one to drip dry anything that doesn't go in the dishwasher. It's convenient, but even so I'm planning to switch to a single large sink in the future. I haven't found any double sinks that I really like, but I will admit I haven't seen a great solution to drip drying pots and pans. I really do use that second sink a lot (even if I towel dry my pots, which I don't usually bother to do, I still have to have a place to put them until I've finished the dishes). Most dishracks I've seen are intended for plates and utensils, which I just put in the dishwasher. If I can find a good dishrack for pots and pans, then I will be very happy with a large single basin sink I think.

Hmm, 200mm diameter is about the size of a side plate, 300mm dinner plate and after a quick look at a few sink brands (eg Clark they seem to all be closer to 400mm). Hi Siri, appreciate your time in changing the layout but I still prefer my current one. although I'm happy to resize things but not move around. I made a mock-up last night but not sure if the changes i made will still fit. I've convert the linen to WIL although not sure if the modification i made is enough. I'll send this through to my builder. Thanks M.B. for your valuable input. I also do handwashing but my concerns: on placing the sink are 1. I have to do undermount sink to look good but then I need a drying rack beside it. so logically the the normal sink is better functionally but no pleasing to the eye :). 2. Wife doesn't want a mess in the island bench. also, she wants to utilize the whole thing when we host parties (food in the bench). 3. I prefer facing the window to see my garden/landscape while washing. And if we decided to use the DW, atleast, it's all there 4. Normal double sink and DW will come together in the butler. once the plates are dried up, we can store them in the cabinet?

Hi Jay j, I still stand by this so if you are reading reviews with people reporting their own negative experiences (not hear-say), make sure they are also specifying a brand and model to check they are talking about reconstituted stone (granite) sinks and not Acrylic. Knowing the brand they are reviewing you can check from the manufacturer what they are made from as well as check the manufacturers warranty and their own assurances given about performance. When you go through reviews, it is a good idea to make sure that people are actually talking about Granite Sinks, which are made of the same type of material as Reconstituted Stone benchtops are made of, and they are not talking about coloured Solid Surface sinks made from Acrylic which do have these problems listed. Some people confuse the two. Modern Granite Sinks do not tend to have the staining, chipping, and cracking problems that are inherent with Acrylic Sinks. Some people mistakenly think the Acrylic sinks that were popular in the 1980s and 90s, plus still used in today Acrylic Solid Surface benchtops are the same material as today’s Granite sinks; but they are totally different.
