Need help with exterior colours / facade
Comments (32)You can get any colour paint you like in any strength - 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 or full - its only a colour, so they will mix it to your request. Have you made yourselves a colour board? if not, you will need to get all your selection colours together and then go to bunnings or a paint shop and get some sample pots of the colours you are debating. (yes it will cost to get sample pots, but seriously you need to do it - and get the varying strengths in the same colour as well). If you are worried about the render colour marking, go the 1/2 strength on the render and 1/4 on the mouldings. Your Wow factor will come with your varying textures - brickwork/render and trims/timber doors, and the wrought iron. I'm guessing you have exterior lighting? some beautiful exterior lights will be the icing on the cake....See MoreHelp needed with exterior colours

Comments (14)I can't quite follow what you mean by 'we must keep the red roof' ? Are you not painting it , or repainting in the same colour , or would you consider a different shade ? Personally , with the White Duck , I'd go for a bolder red roof , with black or charoal gutterings , stay with the crisp white windows and veranda uprights , and the end detailing on the roof , but the window sills I'd do the same red shade as the roof , and the deck a mid grey . Oh , and also , although its cliche'd , I'd do a 1 metre tall white picket fence and double gates in the crisp white , get rid of the wire mesh haha , so everything about the house and fence looks crisp and themed , but also 'period' ....See MoreSeeking advice on an exterior colour scheme
Comments (18)Hi, You've received some great ideas above, and definitely landscaping will play a pivotal role in softening the facade of your house and providing street appeal. As you are looking to sell it's important to look to the street your building on and the colours of the houses around you too. Will you be having the front facade fully rendered as above? If so keep the tones neutral to appeal to a wider market. This size house is probably going to appeal to a professional couple which means they will want something with not too much maintenance. A colorbond roof is a great choice for security and ease of maintenance. Choosing a charcoal like Monument for your roof and gutter adds depth. Consider Surfmist for the Fascia as this will lift and lighten the front. For the Front Portico Piers I would choose a contrasting render colour to add depth to the design. Your window frames should match your roof. If you do an Aluminium framed front door this colour will be the same as your windows and you would want to match your front door to it. If you do a timber front door frame you can paint your front door and frame the same colour. which will be more consistent and appealing to the eye. I wouldn't suggest doing anything too wild colour wise for your front door as you have a narrow facade and it will polarise buyers. Keep your garage door as close as you can to your render colour to give your facade the illusion of size. An exposed aggregate driveway in a colour such as Labassa would pull it all together. Depending on where you are building, the other consideration is Developer Guidelines. If you are doing a knock down rebuild this won't affect you, however if you building in a new estate your Developer may require you to stick to a colour palette they have created. I work for a Volume Builder as a Interior Design Consultant. I hope this helps. Cheers Deborah...See MoreWendy Roberts
