Scandi kitchen diner

my renovated beachhouse kitchen has a Scandi colour scheme with timber floor and table, white cupboards, rose gold decor and grey walls. i want to add a new benchtop and splashback without introducing green or blue. don't like tiles so looking at acrylic or glass for splashback. for cost effectiveness would like a laminate benchtop. your design help would be appreciated.

It would be an odd mix to team a glass splashback (which can be quite expensive to make and install), with a laminate benchtop, which is perhaps the most cost-effective benchtop. Even though you said you don't like tiles there are some large format tiles (600 x600 and larger) that are quite cost effective, and with a small kitchen you may only have a couple of vertical grout lines. They would probably be a better match for a laminate benchtop than a glass splashback.

Hi there, Photos always help with making suggestions, I would be looking at Bunnings Laminated timber Bench tops which can be picked up in store, different sizes and coloured timber. Large concrete look tiles for splash back would add to the look you are after cheers

Depends on the house but the Western Europe one is more aesthetically pleasing. Functionality, nice clean lines and clever balance of materials especially with the timber beams giving a touch of warmth and individuality :))

Thanks annb1997. I'm looking into the swag/rope style pendant lights! The splashback tiles are acually a shade of brown, the wall paint brown, the floors and cabinets cream and grey ( I hate this combo) which extend unfortunately into the living area as well (but not into the rest of the house). I have thoughts to re-laminate the cabinets in white, leave the bench top black, change the splashback to something (they are actually cheapo bathroom tiles and not actual splashback) and figure out placement - the tiles currently don't blend in well and extend past the cabinet and like a step down to the cabinet bench. I'd love to replace the grey and cream floor tiles with wood floorboards or wood-look tiles. Not sure how expensive this would be or if this should be done first or at a later date. I should also note the door you see in the first photo is a big walk-in-pantry.

Hi Catherine, it is a beautiful product. I’ve specified the character grade flooring from this supplier including for the kitchen, with no issues from frying pan splatters (the cooktop specified, the area for large frying pans is in the middle of the bench, ie set back from the edge thus splatters don't get to the floor). The product the floor is cleaned with not only adds protection to the floor it will help draw dirt out. All the best.

Gee, they are both lovely and completely different to one another. The Georgian Bluffs contains veining which seems to impart more character, while the Ocean Foam appears cleaner, crisper and plainer. It boils down to a matter of taste and which complements the overall look and design of your kitchen. IF you want your benchtop material to be the main attraction/feature in the kitchen, my opinion is the GB would achieve this better Have you visited a kitchen display centre or a Caesarstone display centre? Seeing each up close and in an actual kitchen would be beneficial. A large slab will give you a better idea than a small sample piece.

Bunnings also have acrylic splashbacks. Not my thing but worth looking at as an alternative to glass.
