I had to settle for a shower for years and years because the place we lived in only had a shower although my showers are deefinitely not a three minute person, more like 15min ha-ha I too decided on a spa bath in our new build, one that is big enough to fit two people but is simply a bath shape and I'm finding it hard to get myself back into baths because of being used to a shower for so long but I don't regret it either. I used to read the paper in the bath back when papers were what was around back then and I do miss that ha-ha

Hi all thank you for your comments, the bathroom is 2700 wide (window wall) and 1800 deep- looking at 2D plan from doorway, less the boxed in area to the left of the window which is 700 x 800 which creates the fixing wall for the shower head, and and an alcove for the basin area. As you can see it is a planning nightmare and all your suggestions are very useful, I had thought of closing in the window all together & putting in a skylight, but externally it would mess up the appearance of the upstairs windows that are all the same and look nice from the street view.Always a balance between one decision and another. All other options for placing the shower = claustrophobia and given the room is already so poky, at least a shower floor area of 1370 x 800 will give some sense of space. Ive read up on so many design ideas for small areas, thank you angelasusanm, I'm shuffling papers all over the place as I love proportion and a bathroom with many angles is difficult, especially for tiles to look good. This bathroom is not a redo - its never been completed and so there are no skirtings or wall tiles or anything, the pic has a piece of wood looking lino on the floor.

Your mockup scheme is similar to our master bathroom we just completed - photo below. I know you mentioned storage being a concern - our mirrored cabinet has offered an amazing amount of storage in a very small space and also helps bounce light around. I was worried about black taps etc too so we kept chrome fixtures but added in a matte black candle and black potted orchid to create a similar effect which we can change out later on. Our floor tiles are dark but because they are semi-polished they actually bounce around a lot of light and don't make the room feel dark if that is a concern. We also have a huge fiddle leaf fig in the corner (not pictured) which adds a really nice feel to the space - a plant like that could help bring in the outside greenery in your bathroom. Instead of the storage tower you have to the left of the vanity could you do say some floating wood shelving, possibly with baskets added for more hidden storage? You could also bring in the 60s theme with what you displayed on there eg. photos as you mentioned? In regards to the window - a previous house we lived in had a window at about shoulder height in the shower - as well as letting in heaps of light it was amazing for storing toiletries etc!

i'm so pleased you like my suggestion..i much prefer separate toilets especially when there's just enough space for a tiny handbasin and pretty mirror...and, if renovating was easy it wouldn't be so interesting! In a similar situation we removed the timber floorboards, installed new plumbing, added cement sheeting over the wooden floor joists to meet the old concrete slab, installed the new walls, installed the new electrical wiring, waterproofed the whole floor and then tiled...a chat with a plumber, electrician, tiler and waterproofer BEFORE you rip out anything is always worthwhile. I think the odd windows add to the interest of what you'll have converted and i'd keep them as is...The savings for not changing the window could easily pay for your new vanity or all your new taps or have you considered under tile electric floor heating?...we look forward to progress reports
