Hi Magic M new kitchens have more drawers than doors. They also have soft closers on doors and drawers, as well as full extension runners on the drawers. Your kitchen is therefore immediately showing its age because it clearly has more doors and is probably missing the other elements I mentioned that are considered standard in today's functional kitchen. So it really comes down to your budget. If you have the budget I would replace the whole kitchen with cabinets (more drawers than doors) with a shaker style profile. Custom cabinets to the ceiling. Manmade stone such as Caesarstone benchtops. You could think about the same stone on the splashback as subway tiles are on their way out. If your budget doesn't run to a new kitchen then the Annie Sloan chalk paint as suggested is a good option on both the existing cabinets and the new add on ones. Any of your suggested colours in muted tones would work.

Hi Irina, I hear you, warm grey can be lovely teamed with antique white, but your kitchen is not particularly spacious, has a lot of corners and no windows to throw a lot of light in. If I were working with you, I would try to persuade you to stay with the existing colour if the finish is still in good nick. Why? Because repainting panelled cabinetry in a high traffic area can be a fiddly, repetitve and expensive task if it is not absolutely necessary. Have you already purchased the benchtop stone for your kitchen yet? If so, what lead you to that choice? Did you compare sample pieces on site next to your existing fittings? If it already purchased and it doesnt go with the cabinets, get lots of little tester pots and try out a few shades with the new stone. Which Caesarstone white are you going for? Pure White or Snow? Pure White goes nicely with Taubman's Bassinette or Cotton Sheet (Bassinette being slightly brighter for a dark area), also with Dulux's Snowy Mountains Quarter or Casper White Quarter. While Snow lends itself to a warmer white, ie. Dulux's Antique White Quarter strength. You also have the sheen level and the light available to contend with in your kitchen. If you can get away what is already there, you could always change the door handles/ knobs over to stylish pewter or nickel which would offer some kind of contrast. The front of your home looks like homes in Las Vegas, Nevada. Are you more interested in a bathroom along these aesthetics? In Australia the bathroom you have shown would be a very common look. If you are staying in the home for a length of time, and your budget meets your wishes. Then change it to whatever you would feel more comfortable with.

Yes it’s done now. It will be easy to match the upper ones later on as I picked a neutral white. If I have the bottom cabinets removed, the new cabinets will be a different size to the existing ones, meaning tiles will have to be removed. Removing titles often causes tiles to be damaged and I cannot find the same tiles I have in the kitchen anywhere and they extend throughout the whole house with the exceptions of the bedrooms. Regardless, the upper cabinets are useful whether I find a way to repair the bottom cabinets or replace them. I have had two seperate tradesmen say it’s not possible to remove the shelves of the lower cabinet without replacing the whole cabinet.
