Astraea, when I emptied mum's unit, I just absolutely turned everything upside down and inside out. Luckily I found money in the first drawer I opened that put me on my guard. Talking about going out in the car reminded me - mum had a disabled parking sticker that had to be attached to the windscreen if the car she was in was parked in a disabled parking area. When she came to live with me I kept it in the glovebox of my car at the ready, but somewhere along the line when mum had first got the sticker someone must have given her very clear instructions to ensure she kept the sticker with her at all times as they were readily stolen. Obviously whoever had explained said that it had to be displayed on the windscreen when the car was parked, but mum, in the fog she was in by this time, didn't get that bit. One time I had to go to the RTA to have mum's address changed to mine so of course I had to take her with me for her to verify things. I parked in a disabled spot as they are wider for wheelchair access, put the sticker on the windscreen, got the wheelchair out of the boot and got mum into it, not taking any notice of anything she was doing. We got into the RTA, took a number and waited a while before we were served, then I took mum over to the counter and explained the situation, whereupon mum pulls the sticker out of her handbag to show the clerk. Of course I freaked as they are very quick to book you if you are illegally parked in these spaces and told mum she wasn't to take it off the windscreen again. Mum felt she was really going to get one up on me as she was always going crook at me putting it on the windscreen for people to see it and break into the car to steal it, and told the clerk to tell me the rules how I wasn't to leave it in the car. I think the poor woman wet herself seeing the comedy side of it, but trying to keep a straight face while she tried to get through to mum that it had to be on the windscreen. Of course mum just kept arguing with her then that she knew better because of what she had been told. In the end the clerk told me to get back to the car before I got booked but said to let her know if I was and she would try to clear things for me. Fortunately I wasn't but after that I had to be so careful to ensure I put the sticker on my side of the car (which it wasn't supposed to be) but it was the only way I could stop mum getting to it.

You can if the kitchen joinery is a dark enough black, the walnut is stunning. Presuming your timber floor is if any would also be mid toned, the black joinery would simply be a personal accent, and would work best if it's included in small furnishing details elsewhere. I think this would be the same as people with timber floorboards wanting to have black or iron furnishings, including sofas and coffee tables, that wouldn't be dismissed at all, so I think this has merit. I would however keep colour to a minimum to avoid a confused cohesiveness. There's quite a lot of black and beige being done in modern design, because it's organic and can striking and warm at the same time. It's quite architectural and high end. Go for it. I would love a black walnut kitchen!

Hello. I'm doing renovation whole apartment and also built in wardrobe (hinged door) for two room. We had argue about the internal drawer size for each wardrobe. One wardrobe cabinet internal size is w 1117 x d 600 and second is w 1063 x 510 The builder brought the internal drawers way too smaller than actual size of cabinet. he says that it is how usually doing for hinged door wardrobe. so actual internal size of wardrobe is w 1117 x d 600. the drawer size is 900 x 300. Another wardrobe is w 1063 x 510 and brought 850 x 330 drawers. ( this is all bottom drawers) The problem is that the inside drawer is too small and has a big handle like kitchen drawer. The wardrobe drawer should have no handle as it is inside of wardrobe and need to bigger and fit into actual space of cabinet. The depth of drawer is only half way of actual size of cabinet depth. the width size also about 5 to 12 cm is empty gab between actual wardrobe panels. It is nearly half of actual cabinet space is just empty. Finally the builder admit that the depth size made wrongly as there is about 30 cm empty gab but not the width size so they want to make a deeper drawer but keep width between panel about 5 to 10 cm. The builder says rest space will cover up by the panel and also keep arguing that the drawer is small because they need to give a space for door hinge because this one need to install next to drawers. Door hinge is only 2 cm wide and 2cm depth. I do understand door hinge but still too many space is empty. Therefore, I have asked him to make a drawer for right size of cabinet (make drawer size wider and deeper) and put the door hinge between drawer. But the builder refuse to make new one as they need to make whole new drawers and says that it is standard to keep space between 5 to 10 cm between door, panel and drawer all around and cannot compare with other brand such as ikea or freedom. Simply they said they cannot do it. Also, he argues that I should request make drawer to be back to back size before making. My question is that is true to have gab between 5 to 10 cm between drawers and actual size of cabinet due to door hinge? This should be the custom built in wardrobe.

I am renovating my laundry with new cabinetry and appliances and want to retain some of the features that already exist in the wet areas. I am retaining the flooring ( square tile) and have purchased a small shimmery subway tile for splashback area. I’ was going for the granite bench top which I also have in my kitchen below to match. Also want to have American oak cabinetry which will be mostly open shelving. Dryer is going. I have placed a sketch and pictures of the tiles and woodwork. I am struggling to imagine how it will look. Is there a software available that will essentially colour in my plan? The change I can make is the colour of the bench top and cabinetry.
