Our floor is large square tiles laid on a concrete base. The tiles were laid around 26 years ago and there is no movement or lifting. There are two steps from our TV room into our living room and I need to have a handrail installed which will start on the wall in the TV room at the top of the steps, and finish by being attached to a pole which will need to be bolted into the floor at the bottom of the steps. I’m thinking brass tubing as I don’t want it to look like an assisted living aid. My husband is resisting as he says the tiles will crack if there is an attempt to drill into the floor.
Has anyone done a similar project and how did it work out? Are the tiles likely to crack? It would be impossible to match the tiles if they were to crack.
