porcelin wood tiles

I want to run the same tile throughout the house including bathrooms. I'm not sure if that would look good. I need to lay 2088 sq ft. I'm even having trouble finding the right colors. HELP!

I can't remodel the kitchen yet because of budget but I want to do the flooring and bathrooms first.

Plus, I want the colors to look good if we can't do the kitchen for a couple years.

Any suggestions?

Porcelain wood look tiles look good. They are low or no maintenance compared to hard wood. It would be personal preference of yours to run them through the whole house.
I would suggest that you rethink the order of your flooring and kitchen renovations. If you lay tiles around your existing kitchen, then when, come the time to renovate, you may change the kitchen layout, therefore tiling to match new kitchen would be troublesome. Eg: matching colour lot?Will the tiles be still available? Can I suggest, to buy enough tiles for kitchen area when purchasing now. This may save any problems in the future.
Can you post a photo of your current kitchen, so we can give suggestions on colour of porcelain tiles.

Hi there, tiles on the floor of a bedroom? It sounds a bit cold underfoot unless you are having underfloor heating installed, but then perhaps you are renovating in warmer climes than where I live! I would recommend going for a matte or satin finish in the bedroom as the gloss could look a little sterile.also If you have a connecting ensuite, you wouldnt want to run the risk of slipping on the floor if you have wet feet :o

what colour grout are you using, without knowing what style you are working towards, ie: Modern or Traditional, Natural concrete or a matching brown grout. Concrete grout will define the tiles whereas brown would give more of a one tone appearance

It is not the size of the tile, but the underlay, or lack of underlay which makes them crack. Any floor movement will lead to tiles potentially cracking, and timber can move. I would suggest that if you use James Hardie Ceramic Tile underlay, and nail it down as James Hardie recommends, it will give more rigidity to your timber floor and minimise the risk of cracking. As it is a fibre-cement product it is more stable than a timber floor. As with most things to do with renovations the correct preparation for many jobs is the key to success (and saving money in the long term).
