Hi Courtney, the wall height from the floor to the bottom (underside) of the timber joists is 8'. It's another 8" to hit the drywall. 8' is our standard ceiling height, although many people opt to pay a little extra for 9' ceilings.
Thanks so much for the quick reply! We're getting ready to remodel an almost 100-yr-old house with 8 ft ceilings and I love the look of beams, but worry they will make the ceiling feel too low/room feel oppressive. The extra 8" in the room height here makes a big difference!
