So far....my new house :) FRONT VIEW - A bit of advice needed please..
Comments (49)Hi there, re the fence my choice would be the same colour as house with either same colour slats or your window surfmist both would look classic, definately NO timber here. Because you are on a corner block I'd be planting a hedge inside the fence with something like Murraya asap, Jim Henson could advise. I would consider Pleaching them up to where the slats start so that you could under plant with something pretty, I'd also consider adding garden lights as per attached photo. plus I would also consider putting "Eye lid" down lights on the exterior posts of the fence, this could add great street appeal for your wonderful very large house (is your whole family moving in. The garage, either same as wall colour or Monument is my choice. cheers,...See MoreHelp please! Parquetry in my hallway OR solid timber planks??
Comments (29)Thanks Siriuskey for your fotos.... beautiful Parquetry floors, beautiful home and stunning water views! I notice your parquetry floor transitions to grey tiles as well.... which is also very similar to what i will have happening. Im now very much leaning towards parquetry you'll be pleased to know. I collected some samples today, and noticed the store had them in a double formation which i'd never seen layed like that before. Its just 1 block of parquetry layed right next to another to make it seem thicker. I think it looks quite contemporary....check out the pic below from the timber showroom:(top half shows 2 blocks layed together in herringbone pattern) I placed a few of these on my floor as example No1, then i placed some in single herringbone as example No2 below. Which do you think looks better? - examples No1 double block herringbone - example No2 single block herringbone Thanks in advance for everyones input and feedback :-)...See MoreWhat colour should I update the outside of my home to?

Comments (20)Oklouise, do you mean like doing a self contained granny flat but attaching it to the back of the house and using a deck (indoor/outdoor living) extension on the original house as the roof/ceiling to the granny flat? That is a good idea that I hadn't considered. I think I would have to make the ground higher because I believe the rules have changed regarding minimum habitable ground level since the original house was built. The inside walls of the house are 2.7 metres and so there may be some scope to step up to the deck addition (not sure how this would look though...not ideal). It could end up getting quite expensive doing the extra downstairs room as appealing as it sounds. Most additions that I have seen on Houzz appear to work out at about $3000 per sqm (a lot more than the $1500 per sqm that is often reported generally). I keep thinking of having the planned ensuite just a walk in robe in order to avoid having a deck backing onto a bathroom (and to keep costs down), but I doubt I would save much by not doing the second bathroom given that the plumbing for the second bathroom is largely just an extension of what is happening for the "main" bathroom....See Morevarinder singh
