Hi Mel, You have the right idea to place kitchen on south wall. I wouldn't mind laundry over there too if possible. The more north wall for living and sun light the better. I believe a generous pantry can be waltzed in with modified bathroom layout and kitchen having a similar layout to what is shown here. If you wish to supply clearer dimensions I'm happy to play! Also lets try to avoiding the internal toilet we can look straight at as we entry home and walk down the hall. Windows to kitchen even with fence view is excellent for cross vent, light and can have outlook to hanging herb baskets. The good old garage at the rear using miles of land for drive! The latest craze for installing by-fold doors is great but they do not allow for small inlet of fresh air such as is required in cold weather. A few windows will providing air movement and cross ventilation much safer than having to leave a door open. New models of sliders are preferable (if you can clean tracks easily) as the doors are out of the way and not a walking into hazard. Good luck. Margot

how big is your fridge? I'd have a fridge , built in cupboards to the ceilings that way you can incorporate the wall oven in the design and forget about the bench space..then you'd have roughly 2 metres of a whole wall storage.. from your photo you don't seem to have much storage.. sorry misread since you need cook top. 3metres is quite small as fridge is usually 1m then oven .60-75 which leaves with about 1.25m for pantry and bench? not sure looks like you're trying to fit too much in that space have you got measurements for your hob and fridge ?

I would make the entrance into the current bedroom 1 and turn current entrance/lounge into main bedroom with sunroom where current entrance is...nice place to relax with doors open. Then I would knock the wall down between the kitchen and current bedroom 1 to make one large room from front to back and put the kitchen along the wall against current bedroom 4 with long bench with dining area one end and open plan lounge at other end. I would wall off bedroom 4 and only be able to enter it from lounge. another door in lounge to enter remains of bedroom 4 which I would convert to laundry and then entry to bathroom. Block current doors from kitchen into bedroom 1 and bedroom 4/bathroom. Either block door between bedrooms 3 or take wall down to make one big room. Scuttle outdoor bathroom/toilet to make one long outdoor area that opens up from kitchen dining area. Probably put a skylight in kitchen area too.

I would prefer to have the pantry and fridge close to each other so that you’re not trekking from one to the other when taking food out to prepare. Then have all of them near the prep area and sink. Bins/compost bin close to sink for disposing if food scraps when making food and scraping plates after eating. Keep ovens and cooktop close to each other. And you need adequate space beside the sink for stacking dirty dishes and draining dry ones (even with a dishwasher) and space beside the cooktop. Minimum of 30cm bit more is preferable. Good luck.
