Glass front doors
Comments (4)You can have half glass and half timber which gives some element of privacy, lets in the sun & views, just maybe a compromise dilemma too!...See MoreFront door to kitchen/weird wall help!
Comments (17)Just a few thoughts. I like the overall concept of the kitchen but it is rather disjointed. I agree with clearing everything off the surfaces and trying to keep them free miss a feature bowl for the island. You could add an eating area as this would make it more purposeful but I would not do it if it compromised the size and functionality of your living area. The piece of timber joining the two walls at the entrance seems superfluous and I if was removed it would instantly look more contemporary. You could extend those walls up to the height of the cabinets and repaint in a lighter colour. This could reduce your light but this can be dealt with in other ways. I love wood cabinets but the top ones up look heavy- perhaps they could be painted a light colour to reflect the light coming in from the entrance but I would revisit your lighting in general. There is a lot of timber with the floor, cabinets and ceiling and this makes the space quite dark? if you did extend your walls you might find the kitchen darker so paint cabinets. I like the idea of wallpaper but only if you have an even shaped wall and if the pattern works with your living scheme. Whatever you do with your walls will need to correspond with the adjacent entrance walls. You didn't mention your budget but I would start at the simple end and if it doesn't give you the result you want move to the more complex solutions. All the best...See Moretry to source manufacturers for sliding glass doors
Comments (4)They look like steel doors but after a quick Google search nothing came up in Qld, only Melbourne and Sydney. I guess you'd already done this too hence your question. You could always order from interstate or maybe use aluminium instead. Maybe try a local heritage architect as they may have a local contact....See MoreFront of house help. Removing sliding door.
Comments (14)Thanks for your help so far.. I have had some chats with the builder, he said it's not prefarable to remove the top section and put window to match others, as you'll be spending alot more money doing that on something that you may be able to cover and not notice. I woke up this morning with an idea. What about if I move the front door to meet the middle of the porch (this has been something commented on before on here, how the door is really tucked away and not noticeable enough) , do some panelling or rendering in a dark blue/charcoal colour. Then use that same effect where the sliding door is surrounding it, including to the top. I have done a little mock up so present my ideas... I could even do the same on the front window to carry the theme, or that might be overkill, i think it probably is..... Rendering would obviously be the easiest, or even just painting those sections of the brick... Don't want it to look too higgledypiggledy....See MoreVerity & Beverley Ltd
