Thanks for that info. As it was the cool room part of the old milk factory and it is a skin about 6mm deep the look like the have floated over the floor to do the coving up the walls this make a lot of sense. The building was built 1903 so they must have ben using the technique for awhile then it made a come back in the 70s. Not many surprises there. Interesting to hear they are still doing it today. Hi All, It sounds like tumeric and grease are the worst culprits for staining. We are looking to put the Cloudburst in our kitchen as our island and backsplash, but I'm very nervous. I love to cook and host. I also LOVE the look of this stone and would like to make it work if we can. Are there any bakers on this thread that have experience with these countertops? If you are rolling out dough or baking with greasy dough, how has that experience been? What if you get butter/oil on it? Any tips? Do you cover the counter before doing your baking etc.? I imagine beet juice would also be a nightmare?

Few things 1. Still not enough space in the store for a bathrub. 2. I will loose the storage space, storage is very important with growing kids, this way i will have a nice big store room to store. 3. Cost and risk - to run drain i need to cut a lot of concrete and you dont know if there are beams underneath, cutting the concrete slab all the way to store is like cutting the the house by half. There is same risk involved when i remove that single brick wall for the new bathroom,. but i am planning to do another wall first then remove this. 4. Upstairs bathroom is big enough to accommodate all - its a 2030 x 3600 in size 5. The hot and cold water coming behind the wall(bedroom1) where i put the new bathrooms, so just need to drill it through the brick. I know either way i have to cut a lot, one is to cut the concrete slab, other is to remove a brick wall. I thought about putting one outside, but then i have to involve a surveyor, council etc. to much time consuming that way.

Is the concrete slab the size of the whole bathroom , or just the new shower area , or just the old shower size ? And where is the drain , especially in relation to the shower head ? Or are you going to bore a new one ? It is therefore maybe possible , depending on the existing floor , to lay a concrete overlay , or even a tileable tray , with a suitable 'fall' to the corner . A tray ensures no leaks , and is often easier to seal against the wall and the glass side wall too . It would probably be 25-30mm taller at the 'open' end , but I'd actually do a cedar or similar raised slat 'mat' area outside the shower to disguise the step or hob .
