I like the timber doors. Stick with them! No, They're not popular at the moment but I'd say thats more due to the cost when compared to a mass produced coloured/laminated/painted door which would be milled MDF or melamine and the like. Solid timber is just that, solid timber not some manufactured timber of an unknown quality. I'd go for tiles every time on a floor in a wet area. Genuine marble as a splash back would be awesome in a laundry, get a price as you may be surprised as it's not a huge area. Tiling does add up quite quickly.....

Hi There! I have a sample of the Malibu, and the Wattyl white, and the Laminex Polar White is a good match, and being such a crisp white, it should work well with the grey in your flooring. Thanks siriuskey for your design and comments. A bit of background would no doubt be useful, so apologies for this late addition to the discussion. The house will accommodate a reasonably fit and active retired couple in their 60s (us!). We have elderly Mums and expect that 1 of them will end up moving into the guest room/study (hence the desire to have a connection between this room and a shower/WC). We'd also like to be able to access the backyard and have visitors able to access the WC - although we accept that at times we can't have everything...although it's worth a shot! We've struggled with the layout of this space for some time now and picked our builder's brains, but so far no-one has been able to come up with a solution. Both oklouise and you prove that other options are out there.

@dreamer Ha, I was embarrassed by how messy this pic was, that's why I didn't put it in the initial post. Yes, the power lead is absolutely gone - we just moved in a couple of weeks ago and everything in the wrong place! Thank you for your concern :) I was pretty sure that the measurements didn't allow for them to be side by side, but I'm going to look into that. If we can do that with enough airflow underneath for the ventilation, that would be a good solution. The patio has a roof but the left side of the photo (where the very overgrown grass is) does get wet in rain, so not sure if the side by side machines would work for that reason too. @Kate Yes, it's exposed on the side. We just wanted to find a laundry solution at this time - we are also planning on updating the kitchen and bathroom this year, but had initially thought that we would do that by just updating cabinets/appliances (and just re-siliconing and freshening up the bathroom). We are not against a bigger renovation but obviously have some cost limitations and are trying to do what makes the most sense.
