Advice for new tiles meeting existing tiles for kitchen reno
Comments (2)Hi Pauline Can you tell me where you are located (NZ/Aus, state?), and I'll give you info based on that, and point you in the right direction. Having said that, most tile companies have bars that can transition between tiles (or tile supply companies). If I were you, I'd look into these first, before choosing tiles, as you may find the transition bars ugly, or unsuitable. Some people call them T bars. They come in many variations, colours etc, but this gives a cross section example. The T part goes between the tiles. The other thing to do would be to ask a tiler near you....See MoreOutdoor entertaining area advice please!!
Comments (7)Were the original plants Ficus by any chance? There are trees that you could use to fit in between those day beds like the newer mop tops - not the Robinia which suckers profusely. You dont want anything too big, just a small tree with a trunk and a canopy. I would put them in between the seats and at each end and you can keep the canopies trimmed. Ficus should NEVER be planted anywhere near homes, not even as street trees - their roots are just appalling. They are great in pots, but leave them there. Another option to consider would be the native Frangipani - Hymenosporum flavum. Do some research - its fun!...See MoreWall colours with beige carpet — advice please
Comments (12)I've just been looking at your colours, I think the Dulux Dieskau would work the best with the other colours you have to work with, choosing colours is such a personal thing and I know it can be really hard to choose and hope you make the correct choice. Oskuee is right, a paint job can look terrible half way through so you need to make sure you finish to get the proper look of colour. But the biggest thing to remember is it's only paint and it's the cheapest thing to change so if your not happy with the colour you choose you can always try something else. Happy redecorating :)...See MoreKitchen help please! - cabinet advice needed
Comments (37)Hi iggs85 as it is an older kitchen I would not spend a huge amount of money on a revamp. It is definitely possible to paint laminate but good preparation is vital to ensure the paint 'sticks'. However a quality painter is going to charge you about the same as your resurfacing quote. Using either a painter or a resurfacing company does let you choose any colour though. The biggest disadvantage of the current benchtop is the bullnose which is very dated. From your photo, the colour and pattern look OK but you could get a stone 'overlay' put on it. They square off the bullnose so it looks more contemporary. An acrylic feature panel on the return is another alternative to vinyl planks. It looks like glass, comes in a good range of colours and is relatively inexpensive compared to glass. See http://zenolite.com/range as an example. You can buy acrylic sheets from Bunnings. You could also use pressed metal panels as a feature eg. http://www.wunderlite.com.au/catalogue/details/1/79/pressed-metal-crystal?start=25 Add some new handles on doors and drawers too....See MoreKate
