dulux natural white

Still can’t decide on an internal white.. had a dulux consultant out and her suggestion was natural white with vivid white trims (the natural light in the house is quite shaded and on one side quite dark due to a higher double storey house towering over). Although we do have on skylight in the kitchen and one in the hallway... Scared of creaminess so got the painter to do samples of natural white half and quarter on some walls and it looks fine, but at the top it looks so creamy against the ceiling white (already painted)! Will this be terribly
Noticeable when it’s nearly and professionally done? All photos I see of natural white with vivid white trims makes the natural white look sooo creamy, but everyone insists that it’s a nice fresh crisp white with the tiniest bit of warmth! I’m so confused.. is it just the photos making it look this way?

Tempted to just go quarter strength but I can not find any evidence online of anyone else using it in quarter strength! Worries it might just look a bit wishy washy?

I’d appreciate any advice- PLEASE! I feel I should trust consultant but at the same time.. I want sooo bad to get it right!

I’ve attached a photo of living area- pretty sure the left side is 1/4 strength and the right side 1/2 strength... not sure u can tell from this

The 1/4 strength looks lighter. If you are wanting to lighten up your rooms then I think that would be correct. It is difficult to say, when looking at photos on a screen. You are there and can see the different colours in situ. So go with what you see in your room, not what you are looking at in a photo.

Wish i found this Q &A before. So many beautiful people advising and sharing here! I am Repainting Tropical Queenslander with dark red and orangy timber floors and this thread is so helpful. I painted Whisper white and it is throwing so much Green it makes me so sad I am going to repaint. I get loads of tropical sun in the north facing - with eastern morning sunlight. Was just about to go and buy Natural White just to cover it. Do you think it will be too dull/warm a colour. I do like a fresh feel and contrasting with vivid white decorative trims. I think the more modern look would be to do the ceilings and walls the same colour white. Follow Zest’s advice and paint up some sample boards and move them around. I just painted a room Whisper White and I love that colour but it has a westerly aspect and is throwing more yellow than expected. Natural White is Dulux”s most popular white so you probably can’t go too wrong with it but it’s so personal. Finally, don’t rely on posted photos. Your phone or computer screen has all sorts of colour bias that makes it fraught for judging colour.

I would be more concerned with how those two cabinet colours work with your wall colour and concrete palate. I think one will be more favourable than the other if you can put samples together. Also keep in mind what lighting you'll be using. Since if you have cooler colours then 'cool white' 4000K lighting will look best, likewise if you have the warm Alabaster colour then 'warm white' 3000K would be best.

I’ve used natural White quarter strength with vivid white ceiling and trims in hallway and bedrooms after I had painted the lounge and kitchen with half strength natural White, which I find a bit creamy. I find the quarter strength a beautiful soft colour milky colour.
