Trying to choose best Colourbond cladding to go with Zincalume roof
Comments (22)We want something that blends in, but because it's a zinc and colourbond shed home, I want to choose a colour that makes it look more like a house and less like a shed. I was looking at basalt but my husband would prefer a lighter colour for keeping the place cool in summer. My original choice was windspray but I'm a bit concerned it won't contrast enough with the zinc roof...but perhaps better than dune that might look too 'sheddy'...so hard to decide!...See MoreWhat colour for the new roof?
Comments (20)Hope you've been able to use all our inputs! I've never noticed the surfmist roof to be dirty looking - my neighbour is always swearing about the bird poo on her darker roof. The fence is a lot closer than the roof for noticeable bird doings, lol. It's not quite white, anyway, it's got a silvery off white thing happening. Our winters don't really get below 1 or 2 c at night and that's pretty rare. It's usually an average of 7 or 8 degrees at night and 14 to 16 in the day. It's very Mediterranean - long hot summer and short wet winter... The winter is pretty mild altogether... I'm still working with some succulent cuttings at the moment. Our winter would be like an Autumn in say, the UK? Our Autumn time in Adelaide is when we plant a lot of stuff that others would put in in spring. Otherwise they just fry and die if spring planted, the UV is insane, they need winter to acclimate. Our grass is dead in summer and grows in winter... backwards! When we built I did a cactus and succulent yard with no lawns - grass is black hole to put money in, down here!...See MoreUsing Surfmist cladding and exterior paint - black or monument window?
Comments (15)Dont rely on google images, they are heavily edited and inaccurate, definately order swatches for accurate comparison. Below is a photo of Dulux Elements powder coating swatches which I have in my office - in the photo you can see (and from my own perspective of this colour) up close Surfmist is definately not 'white' but search the images on the web and yes it looks white (FYI first colour is 'Basalt', second colour 'Surfmist', third colour 'Black' and fourth colour 'Monument') Below also is one of my company's recent projects, chairs in Surfmist and tables in Monument, but looking at the image you'd swear it was 'white and black'. Before you decide Id suggest getting the actual powder coat swatches from Dulux which you can order via their website and then you can compare them and decide. Note: Colorbond Surfmist / Monument and Dulux are the same tone. Good luck!...See MoreWhat colour exterior weatherboards will work here?
Comments (39)As soon as I see greys and off-whites as main colours , without something to add that Wow , I sort of wonder Why , but thats just me . No-one is offended at Charcoal , it ties in with most colours , its safe , but it adds to most overall schemes . My only real worry with charcoal is that it may get to be what Mission Brown or Forest Green became -- so overdone and tacky that everyone hates it ! A violetty blue , or bright red , or sunshine yellow is more polarising , and natural timber or stacked stone are outside some peoples budgets , but I always like to add something that is just a bit upmarket or bright or unexpected . Your place is sounding like 80% of new builds , whereas a bit of thought and $5k more could give it that extra attention IMO ....See MoreIrene Morresey
