Would like some ideas to renovate this dated family bathroom. There is a linen on one side but embedded in the bathroom. There is no other space for the linen unless we can make some good storage within the bathroom.
Assume you need a bath? You could rehang the door so it swings to the wall not the shower. Possibly change corner vanity to along the side wall. Put basin at right end of the vanity. Build in a mirrored cabinet into wall above vanity
Is a bath necessary in a small bathroom?
Please critique our small 1.5 storey family homestead design!
Due to small area require afree standing 1500 or less bath

I have the same issue. Tiny bathroom, over 25 years old. Space is 1.8 x 2.8. I have no idea where to start! How do I even draw up a plan of the current bathroom so I can get help?
Sue, get yourself a measuring tape, a pen and some paper.Measure and draw it on your paper. Show window and door placements.
Feedback on those options? @oklouise, keen to seek your opinion :-)
Option A could work but you need to flip the door and also change the windows on the external wall. This means patching walls. You could look at flipping the whole bathroom so you enter via the linen cupboard. That way you could leave windows where they are and it will be cheaper to modify internal wall.Option b insufficient walkway at entry. Both have sacrificed vanity space. Your shower is also quire narrow, and I would have centre of toilet 400 off a side wall/obstruction.
the dimensions of the space keep changing?? the room is not big enough for a linen closet with separate bath and shower unless you keep the original but, if the existing closet is removed and the dimensions are confirmed, there could be enough room for a bigger bath and there's plenty of space in the generous hallways for several gorgeous freestanding storage cabinets that would probably be cheaper than having any built ins linen space..my bathroom suggestions include a bath, separate shower, toilet and pedestal or wall hung hand basin with a wall to wall shelf and wall cabinet for counter surface and toiletry storage ..a quick search located several small baths and suitable basins a smaller toilet doesn't help much as you still need knee and elbow space) and the biggest challenge will be making sure that the basin taps fit comfortably under the best height for the wall shelf
This small family bathroom is 2.4m x 2.27 m. The existing bath is a 3/4 bath around 900x900 (it is so old and i don't think you can buy it anywhere now).
The linen is embedded in the bathroom it has the return air grilles for the air cond. i think it can be moved but it will look a bit funny in the hallway. @Kate, this is why it will be hard to swap the door and linen.
I have considered to have a shower over bath but prefer to have bath and shower separate.
if you study my last post you will realise that i haven't removed the linen cabinet and have only used the 2260 x 2400 space for the new arrangement and all the new fixtures i've suggested are readily available from major suppliers
Does the 2260 include the linen cupboard?
@dreamer, Yep, the 2260 measure is to the wall of the bathroom, the linen cupboard is open from the outside of the bathroom, around 600mm depth. will say around 400 mm into the room
If you want to have a bath two options Bath over shower or get the existing bath decorated. Again rehang the door to swing othercway
Hi Gloria, just re reading your post. You have said that the return grills for aircon are in the linen cupboard. Is this correct? Is it a reverse cycle air conditioner? If so then the grills should not be in the cupboard. This will make your air conditioner work inefficiently. They can not recycle the air freely in an enclosed space. The returns should be in a hallway ceiling or similar, not enclosed. They will not look funny.Maybe you can have the air conditioner returns moved, and then you will have the full space available inside your bathroom.
