Ok fair point! The ceiling looks lower than it probably is and has no style to it. No great light, colour - just.... Nothing! The blue rug doesn't match any other shade of overused blue - by match I mean compliment. Should I go on??? I'm sure some people take a photo every time they open up a paint tin. I don't drool I tell it like it is, if it's good I'll say so!

Hi Mona, First of all what a stunning house. My house paint is extremely similar to this one.I am almost sure there are three shades of the same colour. If you saw these shades at different times of the day you would see what I mean.Now here is the exciting part for me they all come from the base colour of green. If you look closely at the trims ( real word escapes me ) they are telling you this. I painted my rendered house 19 years ago and the only thing I have to do is wash it down every couple of years, I am in Sydney. By the way the paint has a lifetime guarantee. Unfortunately the paint was not allowed into Oz at the time so I cannot tell you how I got it for obvious reasons. I hope things have changed for the customers benefit but the other manufacturers did not want it for obvious reasons. the name of the paint is KEIM and it is german of course. I do not regret using it for a second and if I was to build again I would use it at the drop of a hat. I hope you find it and consider using it. Treasure it for the gem of a 1940s/50s home it is, complete with glorious wrought iron work. Suggestions have been made as to how to boost the height to meet current building codes. You will regret updating the exterior for what is likely to be a one that will date quickly and be higher maintenance . It is only a matter of time until such homes are as treasured as Victorian terraces or Californian bungalows. It is an icon of its time. Accept it for what t is. Why make your house look like a fashion victim of 2019, when it stands in almost the full glory of its original period? It will also save you a fortune too! But yes, minimise the concrete! and add a garden that refects the period the house was built. Roses if you like them, with maybe a magnolia or crepe myrtle feature tree but for lower maintenance try some architectural and ground covering succulents. You could also go with edibles like feature citrus and olives for a Mediterranean feel.

Hi rachemacdonald Natural white is one of my favourite interior whites. It's not too creamy but still warm and not cold and sterile. Use low sheen on walls. Use half strength on the ceilings in a flat finish. (The ceiling acts as a reflector to bounce light around the room.) The trims - arch, skirts, windows and doors can be half strength in a satin finish. This will modernise the space and make it feel more spacious. Best wishes.
