The photos aren't the greatest , but the first thing I noticed is the ( I presume ) timber around the top . You probably spent mega $$$ on the benchtop , but it doesn't stand out to me .
I'd personally try for a black/charcoal based splashback , with white and grey veins -- either one piece or tiles . The other option for me would be a slightly orange tinged brown stone tile , again with 'veins' , with white grout -- that is assuming you are keeping the wood substantially as it is , it would tie in .
