Sheer Curtains or Blinds

Hey, need some help here! Excuse the outside it's Landscaping in progress!

So, I love the idea of having split sheer curtains (one for each windows and door) but is that going to be to impractical with kids?! so the second one is what I love. Any ideas=suggestions are welcomed

Hi Relly72, It looks like you have lovely panoramic view. I would suggest installing the blinds. Make sure they have a transparency (i.e.- not black-out). They will filter the intense light in the summer. (I'm not sure where you're located but if you're in Australia, a northern sun can be very strong at noon and you will want to have some control over the intensity of the sun/heat and to protect the furniture and flooring.) I would also suggest putting the system on your wifi network, then it can be adjusted while you're out of the house to minimise air-condition use/costs or the need to ventilate the minute you enter the house. Curtains can easily be added at a later date if you want to soften the feel of the space.

The depends on the look you want to achieve. If you want an ultra modern look, then installing from the ceiling is the best way to go. If you want a more classic or traditional look then install the rod just below the cornice allowing enough room for the brackets/rod etc. 50mm below is good. That way you can opt for a decorative rod. I prefer s-fold from the ceiling than on a rod but it all looks great in the end either way. All the best with it. Looks gorgeous but may be a bit impractical with little ones, I am in love with these relaxed Roman blinds, day night could look great or a soft woven look also.

I would consider using white timber shutters as the room has a conservatory feel

I like the unstructured romans. I love the look of shutters but love a big open glass pane so wouldn’t have them unless I needed the privacy offered during day.

big open glass panes with little ones fingers all over them is not a good look. Roman shades unless remote controlled can be a hazard with children the cords are very dangerous. So blinds that are remotely controlled would be a simple solution, with whatever you chose think about how they will look from both interior and exterior day and night
