Definitely agree that tall windows and doors are an asset, and a fantastic selling point for later on if you decide to rent or sell. They keep with the feeling of space, which feels luxurious. The only thing is, with our Australian summer and all, keeping light out, depending on the direction the windows/doors face, may be of concern. Incase you were considering this point early on, too, just wanted to let you know there are block out long drop (240mm) roller blinds available. @brookegatt, yes this is still classified as a renovation as the floor and some structural walls were restored. If the entire house was demolished then that would be a knock down rebuild.

It looks like a fairly generic project builders home and was probably not designed by an architect. Some builders, such as AV Jennings, established whole subdivsions, which became suburbs and many of their standard "products" were repeated with variations in brickwork, colours and left or right hand driveway. If you would like to find out more about your home then council may have the original plans in their archives and will charge a fee of around $100 to provide copies which will provide the details of the builder (and architect if one was involved). From your photo and description I suspect it may be a Lucas Morris home which was one of the quality builders operating in the Eastern suburbs during the 1980's and 1990's before they were swallowed up by Englehardt Homes who are still in business. Love those tiles, will the led lighting provide/spread enough light onto a dark benchtop. How wide and deep will the Oak shelf be, my thought would be to use a dark specialist power point to closely match the dark tile colour or even a colour that works with your multi coloured tiles and have the power point set vertical in the top row of tiles under the Oak shelf. The cooktop is close to the appliance cabinet (can't read dimensions} as you may still need to pull an appliance out of the Nook to use without damaging the cabinet, ie: kettle steam, I think a flip up style door would add to your kitchen style. The space above the appliances gives a good opportunity to have shallow timber shelves for special things. Do you have somewhere to have your notebook open to a receipe you are trying to replicate
