Roller blinds or honeycomb for thermal properties

I’m really torn between window coverings for my newly renovated living area and main bedroom.
The bulk of the area faces west, with large sliding doors. I previously had heavyweight block out curtains which did a good job of thermal protection and sunblock but which looked very old school and bunched a lot obviously. Also had a pelmet.
I’m now looking at blockout blinds or honeycomb but I can’t recess them. Blinds are more cost effective but do I lose the relative amount of thermal quality ?? I have new honeycomb in another bedroom but haven’t had a winter with those yet (or a really hot summer). I’m in Canberra.
I've googled this endlessly and had different advice from retailers.
Really torn right now .... any advice appreciated
