Kitchen help please! - cabinet advice needed
Comments (37)Hi iggs85 as it is an older kitchen I would not spend a huge amount of money on a revamp. It is definitely possible to paint laminate but good preparation is vital to ensure the paint 'sticks'. However a quality painter is going to charge you about the same as your resurfacing quote. Using either a painter or a resurfacing company does let you choose any colour though. The biggest disadvantage of the current benchtop is the bullnose which is very dated. From your photo, the colour and pattern look OK but you could get a stone 'overlay' put on it. They square off the bullnose so it looks more contemporary. An acrylic feature panel on the return is another alternative to vinyl planks. It looks like glass, comes in a good range of colours and is relatively inexpensive compared to glass. See http://zenolite.com/range as an example. You can buy acrylic sheets from Bunnings. You could also use pressed metal panels as a feature eg. http://www.wunderlite.com.au/catalogue/details/1/79/pressed-metal-crystal?start=25 Add some new handles on doors and drawers too....See MorePendant Advice
Comments (17)We have the black pendants, I thought a photo might help you visualize what your kitchen might look like. Just thought I would mention that at night when the pendants are turned on, the gold interior gives off an orange glow, so your food takes on an orange tint. I've got used to that now, but I didn't expect that. Eventually I would love to change the bar stools they are so comfy but I think they are too clunky looking. Good luck with your choice....See MoreAdvice needed: modern island bench pendants
Comments (4)Hi as you say its a bit bland and needs a bit of life added to it. I think black island stools and 2 large pendants or else go with 3 smaller glass pendants. Or industrial style pendants. It depends on the look you are after and as you say keeping the yellow splash back, does determine the look and color scheme of the room! Here are a couple of ideas. Good luck!...See MorePendant lighting design and layout advice
Comments (0)Hello awesome Houzz people! Thanks for your taking the time to read my question! I’d seeking some advice for pendant lighting design and layout, and would love your input and ideas for the following choices: Colours: Brushed Gold, Polished Brass, Wood, white, or something else?? The house has a scandi-feel, with lots of timber, whites and brushed metal and black glass for appliances Number of pendants: 3, 5 or more?? The dining room table is 2.7 m long, so there’s a large area to light up Arrangement: straight line, symmetrically offset, or in between? The cathedral ceiling height is 5.5 m so there’s lots of room to play with, and kitchen area has lots of straight lines Style: standard conical or something more creative?? Ideally the lighting is downward only (to create cosy feel around table, despite large room). Th other light fittings in the house are minimal (White cans in kitchen above bench). Looking forward to hear what your ideas!...See Moremummagabz
