You can always go with textured glass or slump glass,it has a more rustic look and doesn't look so modern as plain glass, it's much easier to keep clean too as it doesn't streak and there is no grout...we have a very traditional kitchen and it looks amazing,this is my laundry and is actually quite a vibrant purple with dragonflies on it because,in the laundry,why not? The kitchen is more nuetral......

Thanks, My friends all say oh that's soo u! I'm only 19 btw. and I'm still stuck at home. cant wait till I can have a house of my own! Only problem is $$! I already had the birdcages there so I had to use them since my dad had gone to so much trouble putting them up! Most of the items like the bike, lamp and quilt cover and cushions were all gifts from my family so I really wanted to keep them. The bike still gets ridden! I really love doing everything myself. I'm a bit of a DIY queen. I think that I appreciate it better if I know the work that's gone into it! and whats better than something different to everyone else? :)

I agree that it's hard to choose the style without seeing the rest of the house but that a charcoal colour (same as the island cupboards) would tie in best with the colour scheme you have. Depending on the look of the house you have a lot of options to choose from and a lot depends on personal taste or budget. Glass is easy to keep clean and is a modern look if you are not wanting to draw attention to the splashback. Mirror (plain - modern or distressed - character) is lovely if you have something nice reflected in it. If the kitchen is messy though, it doubles the mess. Subway tiles (regular or irregular, tiled in brick format or herringbone) are always a lovely classic choice - but be mindful of grout issues. Arabesque or patterned tiles add more character if you're after tiles with a wow factor. I personally love stone, marble or quartz for an elegant, timeless look and in a charcoal or grey with veins I think would look stunning with the lamps as well as tying in the white and grey cabinetry. You can also do marble tiles that are a little less exxy than a slab although in the end I was surprised that the marble didn't cost much more than the caesarstone. Choices, choices!! Good luck. I like the photo of the chair at entrance with green wall behind and round timber mirror above, all you need now is a large simple pot plant, round perhaps in white, with something like a rubber plant or large leafed variety, or Mother-in-laws tongue perhaps then add a white marble top small table on the other side of the chair, closest to the door with legs to match or similar to the chair. Remove the timber hall table all together and the letters and dragon fly on the opposite wall. That should do it. Pot plant examples photos to follow
