I currently have the same issue in my living/ dining room. You could try using a large plant to separate the TV and the artwork. This will help to define each space.
Thanks Carmen. thats a good idea. Thinking about taking the large artwork down and hanging two or three smaller ones but then where to put the large one
It all depends on the room size and layout IMO . I have a couple of large artworks on the longest wall in my lounge , while my 65" TV is on the 'opposite' wall , which has a couple of sliding doors and a nice view -- I'm probably weird , and thats probably 'all wrong' in the experts eyes , but I am sitting here now with the laptop in my lap , I can look up and watch the TV or out the window and see the world haha .
If they are in the same field of vision and are relatively the same size they will compete. If the artwork is high contrast or bright it will compete. If the art work is subtle in form/colour and larger then I think you can get away with it.
