We are doing a reno where I require both a spare room and an office.
What is the best way to combine these in one room without upsetting each part?
For a good brief you can start with providing a plan of room with dimensions and window sill height. Show any built in cupboards, doors etc. photos help. Can do heaps in a 5 x 6 m room, less as we get smaller. No magic options, just good planning will help. Type and size of bed. Eg single, sofa, Murphy …. Storage needs for office, desk size preferred. As much info as you can think of
Hi Nicola , Could you post the dimensions and some photos of the room ? It will make it easier for Houzzers to give you suggestions .
Google search too .
Need advice for my spare room
Need help for my spare room!
How can I add warmth to my powder room?
Large butlers pantry or reading room?
What is the spare room going to be used for? Is it a bedroom or a room with lounge and tv?
What ever it is being used for...is there an existing wardrobe in the room? You can convert the inside of wardrobe to be your office space. Easily close the doors when not in use.
I will get the dimensions this weekend. Great ideas on the cupboard.
A good brief gives a good design !
I literally want to be able to have an office, but also be able to have people stay without having to tuck the bed away each time plus not have the office interfere with the bed.
And is the office portion for full time WFH or just occasional use?
Occasional use, but will need to be a permanent fixture.
As I said previously. If there is a wardrobe utilise that. Close the doors when not in use.
There are some great Murphy Beds that are study desks that fold down to be guest beds
