L shape Living Dining Room headache
Comments (10)I like your idea Calmond, two single chairs sounds like a better idea as the 2 seater couch takes up a lot of space, and a bigger rug. The only problem is that opposite the 2 seater couch your idea, I have a sliding door and will not be able to move the TV there. Is it possible to have the TV on a wall and just turn it towards the living area if we want to watch TV. Or should it be in the living area.? I also want the TV room as far as possible from our bedroom. Will move the piano and see how it looks. Thanks for your input!...See MoreNeed help decorating the strangest-shaped living room ever
Comments (17)I think the problem is actually not so much the shape of the room but the fact that at the "pitch of the roof" part you have a large full length window and fireplace. Essentially, because of all this there is no wall to put your back against or place furniture against. My rectangular room has similar issues with a corner window facing the fireplace. We just put the kids toys there on the floor and low kid size stuff like a toy box. You can't put any large pieces there. So, I say, start by completely ignore the top triangle of the room. Its essentially dead or unusable space, but will add to the feelings of space and light in the room. Arrange your large furniture pieces in the bottom square portion, around a large square rug perhaps that would define the space. It might feel better that way. Then arrange your other bits around that. I think if you try to work the square it will be way easier to organise the room. Emphasising a square layout will feel more comfortable. Plants in that light bright corner was a good suggestion, they soften the angles. Hope that helps!...See MoreOdd shaped living room
Comments (10)Pull the sofa sofa forward to float perpendicular to and a 18" or so way from the wall with the art. Use the upholstered footstool with the chair and pull them forward too. Put the corded gear in the shelves and eliminate that metal shelf/cart and the coffee table. The sofa appears to be a lounger, so you really can't use a coffee table with it. You might buy a couple of skinny "C" side tables to use at each end of it for putting down drinks, etc. If budget allows I would permanently close off the hall access by the blue wall. I'd continue the blue paint throughout the room. It adds a lot, works with the brown sofa, and you seem to have natural stopping points so you don't have to take it into the kitchen ....See Morei need some help setting this room its a strange oblong shape with thr
Comments (7)I'd be the opposite -- I love the coffee table ! It is quite different , it matches the chairs , which all complements the rug . The pot matches too , and the plant adds life and a basic colour . I don't like mirrored drawers , but also they seem more boudoir than lounge to me , and then the cart is a different style again -- it's modern that looks 120 years old ! I'd get a long modern white sideboard unit in that white gloss -- 2.5 metres or longer ( as long as it fits somewhere ) , have kept the coffee table , even kept the 2 B&W pics but also have a nice abstract picture , only a bit bigger than the 2 pics , somewhere too -- logically , featuring the green tones of the plant in the white pot . A bit of class , a bit of colour , some leather , and the coffee table as the slightly quirky focal point ....See MoreJulie Herbert
