Hi Rachel,a plain slab melamine door is hardly a profile. To me it reads as just a material selection. So yes, I think mixing the two door styles of shaker and slab is perfectly fine, it's a bit like thinking of the slab doors as background and shaker doors as feature. Especially if you select a matt finish. You could think of it in fashion terms as the shaker doors are your wow factor jacket or top, handles jewellery and the matt black slab a classic pair of denim jeans. Can look a lot more interesting than a full on pant suit:)

Hi, just thought id update everyone on the outcome of the paint. Went to Inspirations Paint (they are a Dulux specialist and matched it exactly) but got it home and same result - paint was completely different colour on the wall, way too brown-yellow and much darker in colour. Perfect when painted onto a piece of primed timber but completely changed when it went on the wall. In desperation I decided to start again and bought other sample pots but all with the same problem - if it was a beige tint it turned out deep mud colour on the wall and if it was a grey colour it threw purple on the wall. Both the hardware and Inspirations Paint feel it was a faulty batch of sealer that was affecting the paint colour. We had already used 30 litres (bougth both 15lt from the same place at the same time) so it was too late to re-seal again and so we purchased a couple of sample pots from white/neutal swatches and finally found one that was similar to our desired paint colour when applied to the faulty sealer. So... in the end it seems the primer/sealer we used on the new gyprock was the problem, and what a headache! But thank you all for your help

@HU-319610855 I’m not saying this to be even the slightest bit contradictory, so please don’t take it that way. We had seperate everything. Doors, walls and divisions everywhere. We pulled it all out and went combo. We‘ve never had an issue with conflicting use, and we love the feeling of extra space and openness it created. I’m sure it all depends on your household. :-)

I like your inspiration pic. I would pick your feature wall and do that full height in your teal tile if your budget allows. I would do the remaining walls where necessary in a white tile colour to match the panelling. A shutter like above would fit your style. I wouldn’t go the expense of a new window. If you do end up with three tiles in the space be mindful of how grout lines will impact the look and how lines can make the room look more/less narrow. Beautiful door BTW.
