Comments (22)I would paint your bookshelf the same colour as the walls and stuff it with, well, books! I would paint the built-in corner unit to match and just use it for potplants - ivy that hangs down would look good. As for the coffee table, if the room is small, what I did in our little family room was hunted around and found a large curved hunk of tempered glass from Freedom and it sort of 'floats' and looks invisible in some lights. Seriously, I think the line was called Ghost and was very reasonable (they also had a side table to match). Throw a bit of cherry red around and see how it looks with the creams and the taupes. Here is a pic of the coffee table....See MoreAdvice on hallway light please!?!
Comments (20)When you're looking to integrate a contemporary look within a period context, it's important to respect the integrity of the architecture - lighting pieces that marry old and new are the way to go. My favourite pendant in these settings would have to be the Jasper Morrison designed Glo Ball by FLOS. It is a classic piece that will stand the test of time and works well in both contemporary and period spaces. Here is one of my projects that includes the light in a contemporary home- Here is an image I've found (this is a project by NEXUS design), that displays the light in a more traditional setting-...See MoreEntry hallway decor
Comments (10)The hall table is easy on where to put it . Under the stairs . So you ( or family members ) can leave dirty or even security items , out of sight . Did you consider doing something in the hall -- an abstract painting or 2 ? It's a relatively new concept called colour , but some more courageous people are finding it looks slightly different to white , or white , or white , or even black . Haha . The one thing that shows some thought -- the ( almost certainly imitation ) wooden floor panels -- you know you need something when the most positive thing said is about the floor ! A painting on that large white wall can be bought probably as cheaply as painting or wallpapering that whole wall ( especially with the 'challenge' of having to continue upstairs , or making some kind of differentation -- basically two-toning the wall ) . You may even make money on a painting ( you probably won't ) ; you look a bit cultured ( although it hasn't worked for me , and I must have 50 ! ) ; and real easy to change if you get bored or even change your lounge suite , kitchen appliances , a rug or whatever is in surrounding rooms ....See MoreHall table white
Comments (2)Hi Jeannie, adding some luxurious items to your table would look fabulous, try Provincial, OZ design, choose a theme and go with it, you really can’t over do it....See Morebigreader
