Tall overhead doors are quite striking, and I think they always look great. However if your kitchen is very modern the horizontal, elongated overhead cabinets are more suited. Modern kitchens emphasize horizontal plane, extending the perimeter and exaggerating bench space. Vertical heit is lowered to your eye line where possible, giving there space above a sense of open-ness and lift. Contemporary on the other hand allow for these tall doors, and will bridge the gap between a classic new style kitchen with a more traditional one with elements of profiled doors or classic finishes and stone etc.

Not sure why they put a narrow one on the stairwell section! If we put the cornice around the corner, would it be better to replace with the wider one?

Thank you for the ideas. The windows are actually new and double glazed so are well insulated. I do need the block out for light though. I like the idea of starting at the top, I wasn’t sure if I should start middle or top. I bought those rollers not long ago but they’re too bright white so they might have to go. If I can go with just a curtain and blockout that would be good. Thank you.

1800mm on a 2740 ceiling height is small. What height, off the floor level, are you starting your 1800mm windows? If you started them at 500mm from floor level, this would give you are nice high window. It would be the cost of the extra wall from floor level. weigh this cost against a 2057mm window. I have 2740mm ceilings and all my living windows are stacker doors at 2340mm. If you are having curtains, you could have your 1800 windows, and have the curtain drop from the cornice of the 2740 ceiling height. This would disguise the low window. But then this also would be an extra cost for the length of the curtain.
