With your awesome views, I would go for a more beachy or casual look. Let the view be the star rather than having to compete with lux decor. This lots of white with blue or green accents.

They are great views. Do you use the day bed? The odd head rest is a bit odd.

Thank you for your thoughts. We love using the day bed for reading and working. The views are beautiful. Agreed, the head rest is a bit dodgy. I think the colour of the foam is a bit bland. The relaxed coastal feel is a good idea. I doubt I’ll be able to convince hubby to wall mount the tv. What could I do to the wall above tv?

What is the objection to wall mounting the TV ?

Why I ask is that if you are going for a coastal feel , and also seeing that wall vent to the left of the TV , how about doing around 20 vertical battens ( around 40mm x 40mm ) , done in a light beech or cedar , hiding 2 or 3 horizontal ones painted black/charcoal , coming from the left side wall across to 3/4's of the way to the window . That will get a beach feel , the warmth of wood , make a bit of a feature , but also hide that vent and ( if this was hubbies objection ? ) the power and aerial wiring for the TV , because the uprights will be around 80mm out from the existing wall , so you have a 40mm gap there .

Depending whether you use actual beech or cedar , or just the cheapest timber you can find with a stain , you'd probably be under $500 , and probably do it yourself -- you can use brass screws ( and industrial glue ) and make a feature of the screws if you want .

The other option ( instead of beech or cedar ) would be a Japanese Black stain , it would sort of reference the pot plant stand and bedsiders -- but personally I don't think the Japanese Black goes well with the yellowy beige walls , whereas beech or cedar would suit better . And , again my opinion , Jap Black isn't all that 'beachy' .

There's a lot you could do here, what is your budget is my first question. I would move the plants to the left of the TV to help balance that wall and add some interest, if you cannot wall mount it, I would personally also use a higher stand
 Soft furnishings need to be updated. Can you paint the walls?

Such a bit of luxury having that daybed in front of that fabulous view, paint your walls white for a fresh new look, buy extensions to drop the drum ceiling shades, bedside lamps some lovely bedding and cushions and throw for your day bed.. gorgeous.

For your TV add some artwork, these could be posters or photos in similar frames arranged in a gallery style, you can mix it up with a shelf for plants, or add a mirror into the mix for interest.

I would use Julie's ideas to guide you. I would also try centering the bed and placing the rug one third under the foot of the bed. I have shown a shuttered window behind the bed so that the bed will sit better once moved, the view is out through the other windows, but you could introduce blinds shutters to match. The TV unit needs to be taller with Julies suggested frames surrounding it you could also add your plant stand between it and the day bed. . A very, very basic idea for you. before moving the bed and rug

I’m overwhelmed by your kindness,thank you for your thoughts. Here is what I’ve done so far. Moved the plant over. Changed color of the day bed. Moved the carpet over. Next steps are adding wall art. I need to paint when hubby is away 🤫

Clever you, I hadn't realized how tall your plant stand was so I think it would work better to remove the single plant all together and place the tall stand in the corner and the TV next to it. From what we can see of your day bed it looks lovely, what a place to read a book!!

Thanks siriuskey I think the light in the corner will be too weak, especially in winter, to support the plants. I might need to buy some different furniture and plant stands

Since COVID I’ve gone crazy for indoor plants, but happy to consider that maybe less is more

I would paint the white trim , on the daybed , in black . Move your painting from above the bed to above the TV with extra paintings as suggested by Julie . Suggestions for new quilt and paintings for above the bed .

Covid has been difficult so if your plants bring you happiness then keep them next to your bed, perhaps behind the day bed if they will fit. The TV will be better back where it was, but on a taller stand. New paint will make the room feel and look lovely

For what it’s worth my hubby was anti-wall mounting our TV but once we did it, wow. The viewing angle is so much better when it’s up higher.

Hello Joyzzz, I'm not the best with this sort of thing: much better with plans! But I love the rug, bathroom window, plants and the stand and THAT VIEW!!! Do what ever you need to to enjoy it more often, for longer day or night and with good books, knitting, cuppa tea and Mozart!!! What about a unit that is the height of the structure of the window seat to go along the wall with TV on it: yes I see there is a vent to consider too...unit could have baskets for said knitting, DVD and Mozart CD's, teddy & other storage too. The TV would be just that bit higher, easier to see and have stack of books, vase of flowers hubby has bought for you, perfumes etc decoratively along it. Also place to put cuppa, knitting bag when on the day bed..... Then match bed sided tables to it and center the bed or have the left side table longer taking most of the space to the window wall. Again it can have flowers, cups of tea, books, whatever. Add three lamps: bed sides maybe hanging so as not to use the table space: cylinder shapes shades to match the ceiling lights but a tall base so one by TV is bringing more height to the TV area. As others have said lighter, subtle beachy colours in art, cushions, doona covers, taking in the colous of the mat and plants to tie it all together. Lets see what you come up with!! OH and leave plants where they are but add another on a stand so it is in the window light & near to TV!? Cheers Lucky you with a view and lovely room like that..... Margot

I wonder too if building the odd angled end straight to the floor & finish with the skirt to match would look better... might be a half day job for a handyman... :)
