Ideas for the interior atrium

The 'dead' trunk belongs to a former beautiful foxtail palm that regretfully had to be cut as it outgrew its height space within the atrium. It was 25 years old. To remove the trunk altogether from the atrium, would have left the atrium bare - and there is sentimental attachment to it as its palm gave us great pleasure. The metre-high foxtail as seen in the photograph was planted three years ago. Whilst it appears happy in the elements, it has not grown - as yet!
Am seeking some creative ideas on how the former foxtail palm trunk could be enhanced,
allowing it some glory!
