There are so many subtleties and nuances with colours that are lost with digital images I would not want to make a recommendation online. The only way to make colour selections is to get paint colour swatches, stick them up, and observe them in different light conditions. Your perception and appreciation of them will change at various times of the day. I would not choose any grey for your home as grey is the mission brown of the future. I would choose one of the colours that is appropriate for the period of your home that works with the white window frames and roof tiles. Comments (3)It looks like you home has had lots of renovations and changes over the years so I wouldn't be too concerned with getting a new scheme that is completely authentic, but something that works with the elements that you can't change easily. The large bricks were probably a smooth faced concrete block, not a terracotta brick , I am not too sure what the pock-marking is under the window? Can you share a photo of the brickwork near the front of the house? Comments (26)May I suggest that you could quite quickly and affordably: 1 - paint the roller door and the white beam above it in Terrain - https://colorbond.com/colour/terrain - which will stop them drawing your eye. You may still want to put in a wooden roller door but you will get the effect quickly. 2 - replace the eyesore round light fitting at the same time with a modern one 3- left hand side - the next door dirty cream fence is also eye catching either put a fence and gate there to block it from view or just paint it a dark colour so it recedes and separates from the house. 4 - yes the roof either needs a good clean or a repaint 5 - yes the down pipe - can it be replaced by a chain style into the garden bed? Paint it dark anyway to stop it popping. It may be possible to drain it to the side gutters Love the railings - 5- the house isn’t sitting in its own space visually planting darker evergreens to left and right will help to settle it....See Moreexterior colours - red brick California bungalow
Comments (9)You asked about painting the 'stripe' , and I was going to mention it in my post above . Visually , that existing hip-line 'stripe' looks a bit funny , it is pretty non-existent on the left , then sort of alternates between red and white . So that seems a problem to me , because I was going to suggest either 'just' painting that 100mm or so stripe in black , or preferably getting a slightly raised render 'hip line' , either in a black render , or painted afterwoods . BUT as you don't want to do red around the top , I think that would look like a dogs breakfast -- red and white with a black stripe is pure 1960's style and class -- red , white , mauve or grey , and black would look disjointed IMO ....See MoreKate
