Ensuite for main bedroom
Comments (43)After reading all the suggestions I tend to agree with Kathy Grant. Why do we need ensuite. I certainly don't like flushing toilet in the middle of the night right next to my bed , or someone having shower at 6 am when I could be sleeping till 8am. Can somebody explain what is the advantage of having ensuite to having just 2 full bathrooms. And not to mention open plan bathroom/ bedroom....See MoreAdding ensuite and wardrobe upstairs
Comments (3)I suppose it all depends on the size of your household, how busy the bathrooms are during the morning rush, how old the kids are, and how much you want to spend on bathroom fitouts. From your plans you are looking at four bathrooms in a four bedroom house, which to many people may seem excessive (and expensive). Downstairs you have a bathroom, probably for visitors use, and for day-to day use. Does the downstairs bathroom have a bath, shower, vanity and toilet? Upstairs you have a new ensuite which looks a good size, with shower, toilet and vanity. Then there is the new family bathroom, which looks smaller than the ensuite, with shower, toilet and vanity. If I had a young family with toddlers I would possibly enlarge this bathroom to include a 1500mm long bath, but with older kids this isn't really necessary. Possibly consider balancing the size of the these two bathrooms so that they are the same size by moving the dividing wall. Both these bathrooms have semi-recessed basins which many people don't like. You have the room for full depth vanity, which gives you more options when selecting your vanity basin and tapware, as well as more benchspace. Then there is the older, upstairs bathroom, which you are keeping the same, with the laundry chute, possibly to save money on a new bathroom fit out? If this older bathroom already has a toilet and vanity you probably don't need an additional powder room upstairs. There is no issue with having an ensuite and family bathroom back to back, and it makes sense as far as plumbing, and sharing sewer stacks etc. Have you discussed with your draftsperson how these will be concealed from the downstairs rooms? Comments (24)We intend to stay in our master upstairs for sometime and move down when we feel comfortable OR move them both into the guest bedroom which is opposite the new master. We originally had our master suite upstairs with the boys room down stairs, however we think it's safer this way when they are younger. The 1st floor will be their domain, with their own kitchenette, bathroom, study, living and deck... so they will never have to leave home 😉 I think I have drawn up 300 different options 🤦♀️ Does your huaband and his Identicial twin have an amazing bond? Comments (20)And the following, because space is critical I have thought that the small court on the western boundary off the kitchen could be included into the floorplan just using high windows? As OKL has previously mentioned possibly relocating the master suite which you responded that you were understandably wanting to keep costs down. It's still vital for you to get the best possible floorplan so that things flow. Without most dimensions my suggestion of a possible floorplan Changing the end bedroom and Rumpus rooms into a master suite, the kids bedrooms side by side and the rumpus off the bedrooms, The study opening off the kitchen family so you can over see them using computers and doing home work, plus its a lovely space to do anything that you would normally do on your computer. I also like the idea of seeing the fireplace when coming down into the house.so I would personally prefer keeping to to the left of the room which could help with better furniture layout...See MoreKate
