Unfortunately the issue is fraught with 'opinions' and if the person judging doesn't like your opinion - tough luck buddy! I finally gave up as I could not afford to continually run the 'lottery' of submitting and refusals. The worst part was that I was told "We don't like it", but when asked what they would like was told "Oh, that is up to you" - when it obviously isn't. You like curves, they want angles. Total stupidity.

i would email the boss to say that you are "happy to pay the bill minus the amount for the product not used plus enough to cover the extra product used" (include the individual amounts, if known) and quote the final amount that you expect to pay for the job "as soon as the scratches are repaired" best of luck and hope you're happy with the final results

I did get a guy out to give me a quote on cleaning and painting the roof. He said he will have to quote it using scaffolding because of the steep roof. That was a couple of weeks ago, but haven't heard back from him yet. I have seen some bad paint jobs of terracotta tiles so am a bit nervous about getting it painted.
