Comments (10)Hi DesignD - if it's too be used as a potential study/office space with seating, I initially thought about putting a low level storage/open bookcase against the white wall with perhaps a TV above it (if using the space as a lounge or for presentations if used as a study/office). The study desk I thought could have a glass top and be placed in front of the grey wall so that the person sitting at the desk, is facing towards the hallway .... therefore glare from the window on the computer screen should be minimal. It would also keep the room feeling open and spacious. Then you could still potentially put a 2-3 seater sofa (think sofa bed for unexpected guests) in front of the window facing towards the tv/storage space? You could place a lovely piece of artwork on the grey wall above and behind the desk with a small lamp table in corner near the window/sofa which could do double duty for cups of tea/coffee :)...See MoreDesign ideas for new kitchen, dinning and study nook needed
Comments (9)I would suggest you do not make the area open plan. You should make the dining room a dedicated home office/study area. You could install desks and plenty of bookshelves for storage. Sort through all your stuff and try to make the family room and dining table for eating, not stationery. You could definitely make the corner where the bookcase is, into a study area as well....See MoreDESIGN DILEMMA - 5TH ROOM vs Walk in pantry sitting room/study
Comments (5)There is a difference in proposing changes for the purpose of your own functional needs, as opposed to speculative value-adding purpose. The latter is always a roll of the dice and trying to 2nd guess potential buyers, which is (IMO) never a sensible approach to a building project. Without understanding the entire house/scenario, it's impossible to offer judgement one way or the other. Design decisions should always be considered in the overall scheme of things, and as always balanced against your goals and of course costs involved. A Bedroom straight off a dining room will not be very appealing, however potentially a small study space could be deemed a logical /practical space. If you're serious about it best seek professional design assistance to help you work through your options. Cheers PD :)...See MoreScarlett Web
