I agree with the above comments. need to look at colours and wall coverings as well as adding decorations with mirrors, pictures etc. What type of style and colours do you like? I would use your likes as a means of starting a picture board with things you like. My oldest son is nearly 20 and I am only now reorganising my house to suit the adults living in it. take your time and enjoy your creative inspirations, get ideas from books, TV and magazines, but don't go for trend, go for things that say "you".

It might sound crazy, but consider charcoal on the walls behind the green sofa - both the wall behind it and immediately adjacent wall too. The strange thing with dark wall colours is that dark furniture visually melts into it rather than your home looking a bit like a museum/gallery space with lime white. If you then place some modern artwork above the sofa it will look amazing against charcoal. To balance the dark walls, just be sure that on the opposite side of the room have some low dark furniture (like armchairs, or dark timber cabinet, etc). Here's a nice example of grey/charcoal 'absorbing' darker furniture And another with more traditional pieces; Hope that helps as an unusual option!

Do you have any furniture you are wanting to put in there ? Does any of it have any colour ? I like the light floor colour , the rest let's just say it is a good neutral base . I'd start with a new front door -- a darker varnished ( glossy ) wooden door , or possibly even a blue to reference your outside . Then add colour via furniture ( or at least cushions ) , rugs , and artwork . Again , maybe several different blues would tie in with the floor , but also the exterior . If there are only blue exterior highlights , you may want to go for warmer colour inside -- reds , yellows , oranges -- again , ties in with the floor . To this end , I can't understand why people go with 117 shades of grey and offwhite and wheat -- live a colourful life is my attitude , as long as it is themed haha !

It is 'of a certain era' , and without spending big $$$ , that's always going to be the base , and why not ? I'd take the cue from the lower brickwork , and do the windowsills and gutters in a tone thats more charcoal than brown , but with a slight brown aftertaste . Likewise , I'd redo the upper level in weatherboard , whether its painted , coated , synthetic , but personally I wouldn't mix styles -- scyon or render done in that orange tone will look like an obvious add-on ( yes , I know , the well-worn boards do that too , but look at how the concrete railing has come up with a paint ) . Basically , keep it looking like up-dated period IMO . Basically , get rid of all the green , and the awnings , and work with the orange , the 'interesting' aspect of the brown , the roof , and the small bit of white .
