soundproof fencing to reduce neighbouring house noise
Bernadette Smith
last year
We have lived in our detached house for 20yrs and rarely heard any noise from our neighbours on either side. New owners on our northern side rebuilt most of their single story house and replaced thick weatherboards with colourbond and raised their floor and replaced the floorboards. The problem is that, since their renovation, we hear every footstep in their house and hear their children run around screaming and playing inside.
I know they are entitled to build as they have done but the reverberation acoustics are quite distressing to us. We can even hear the footsteps in our bedroom upstairs.
The houses are detached and a cement sheet fence separates them. Our house in set back 2.5m along most of the fence.
Does anyone have a similar experience and is there a solution?
